Is this phone any good? Was looking at it for the mother in law but read some poor reviews on CPW.

The poor reviews on Amazon.de put me off too. I doubt that any phone, regardless of price, will have perfect reviews though.

I'd wait for the Moto G6, which should be announced in a few weeks.
This got very hot recently when on offer at £169.99. have some heat 😁

Can't say I've had any issues with mine. Processor with 3Gb is fast enough (no quicker than the old G4 mind), all Apps run OK. Call clarity is good and the screen is fine.

I have one of these and it is very fast and smooth was a pleasant surprise actually. Motorola seems to have optimised the software very well, not had any issues and battery life is very good as is the main camera but only in daylight. Don't always trust reviews
I got the g5 , I much prefer my old G3 , the Build quality on the G3 was sooo much better, this feels like a cheap chinese toy ,the sound quality is worse than that of g3 , the flashlight isn't as bright as on g3 , overall build quality just screams - CHEAP. The only thing going for it is a bit better colours for screen, camera- well it's a very very very marginal improvement , if between the g3 and google pixel there is like 400% increase in image quality than between G3 and G5 it's like 10% increase in image quality..
There is some slight improvement with the g5s however, but not enough to make you want to switch really.. I will be selling my g5 soon and still keep my g3 , since the Lenovo takover this has turned in just another cheap chinese tat Company!

Edit: Damn.. you HUKD, burned my porridge writing all this.

Both of my kids have this model from Amazon...no problems at all, seem fine for kids games too. Based on that I bought a G5S Plus...also good.
mine is the 3GB dual sim with Android 7.0 Nougat, which as expected drains the battery much quicker, however, i do find it randomly restarts itself and occasionally hangs. I still don't know if the turbopower feature actually works like it did with the G4 as only the G5PLUS supposedly comes with a turbopower charger, and its £25 to buy an official one from Motorola/ Lenovo

one major headache i had was when the microSD card failed (not really a phone issue). but i had to do a factory reset as it starts throwing up all kinds of errors even to just using the camera. it wouldn't accept a new microSD until i'd reset the phone. if you have any authentication apps then make sure you have them additionally installed on another device (and working) or have backups of the QR code as resetting these are tiresome and long winded.

Just realised it's the G5 Plus that I was actually looking at.
