Thanks mate, my little girl has been up on three occasions since 6.30pm, so just sitting here having a peruse until she decides to go back to kip
My other half has a g4 and is always complaining it is slow and has poor battery life - would this be a decent upgrade?

Or would you recommend anything else in this sort of price range - no need for top spec (e.g. NFC or wireless charging)?

Heat added BTW.

This is a decent replacement I'd say, but I'd rather get something like the note 7 (Xiaomi) from the uk at this price.

Thanks for the heat

Thanks for the recommendation - any particular reason for the preference for the note 7?

Better cameras, battery and processor to name but 3
Gutted that it has no NFC as that is the show-stopper for me in what was otherwise a perfect phone. Heat added though because it's a great deal.
Honestly wait for Black Friday, the last 2 years Moto G series phones (standard and plus models) drop even more.

This is a lie. This is the UK version; has NFC.

Ta very much MrSwitch - and cheaper it would appear from a quick search - that could well be Xmas sorted

You must be glad then.

You state no NFC, it has NFC, therefore it's a lie. No one's worked up here, I'm just stating the truth.
Although it's still a decent phone for the money, I'd consider holding out for the newer G8 plus. Personally I'm disappointed it's not on the black Friday sale (yet anyway)

Wasn't aware of the G8 Plus! Thank you!

G4 is ancient, this is a modern phone. NFC not a top spec. Better G7+, G8+ around this price

I bought this on a pre release price on Amazon for £140. Cant believe it's still at these prices. Good phone though.

Look up the dictionary definition.

Thanks it verified I'm right.

Dictionary.com

3. an inaccurate or false statement; a falsehood

Please don't lie to other members here you know what that makes you.

I don't understand why you're persisting in attempting to goad me based on what is demonstrably a contentious issue without a clear answer to it, and thus the inference that I am a "liar" serves only to attempt to antagonise me. I'm unsure why - but I gave up having arguments on the internet once I left my teens, so with respect I'll leave you to it and hope you have a great day.

To everyone else: I have made an enquiry to Amazon to clarify if this version has NFC or not, as some do and some don't (hence some comments in the reviews section expressing dismay at lack of NFC etc).

I'll be sure to report back here when I have their response.

Many thanks

Thanks - Understood on both points - I used NFC just to demonstrate that a basic (but half decent and zippy) phone was needed rather than anything remotely premium as anything else would be wasted.

You're welcome. Motorola has better software than Xiaomi, especially for over-50s/young children, simpler, easier to use. Mi A2, A3 with Android One cancel that advantage.

Interesting - my other half is not quite 50 (so I will hold back from using that justification with them) but does like simple things (that's why they are with me ) and they are used to Motorola phones - choices, choices....

I'm not simple, pretty twisted; like complicated, sophisticated machines but simpler women, still single though
How many G7 models are there? I say there was a Play, Power, Plus and just a G7 but this one seems to be listed as an Amazon exclusive?

No, you're right, I think it's just the colour.

Yes, it was a fancy purple colour on prime day I believe... Solid phone btw.
Not long got the G7 POWER its one amazing phone the battery is great and everything great other then NO 5g WIFI on it.... It's down to the batch number, but think it's the u.s one that has, just look in to it I'm not bother as still get silly speed off my mobile provider.

Is this better than the g7 power? Last time I looked I thought they were same except power has bigger battery?
The day my p20 pro packs up I'll be buying this phone purely for the battery 🔋
Has this got NFC?

Same screen size, cpu, ram, storage.
This has an extra camera to help the main one so pics should be a little better, and it has NFC which the Power doesn't for some stupid reason Also higher res screen, but the DPI is still good on the Power. But the power has a much bigger battery.
I certainly don't think it's worth the extra £50. You're paying all that extra for a slightly better camera, NFC, higher res screen and and a much worse battery. I'd go for the Power over this easy.

Why? It's only a 3000mAh. On a big screen like this that's average at best. Go for the Power if you want a decent battery life.
