I guess because the Moto Z will be replaced soon. Still seems like a lot of money - I like the concept, but would never pay this either way.

Just bought it thanks . I got the moto z play for 369 with free jbl speaker direct from moto. Add this and i have great sound plus a better zoom camera for £530. Plus the battery on the z play is AMAZING. All for less than an iPhone or Samsung s8....

Theres a new version of the Moto Z coming (cunningly called the Z2) but, from what I've read, it has the same moto-mod interface.

I have a top camera but this is ok for regular snaps on the go and sharing via email through the phone. No Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connecting required

Second that comment on the Z play battery ... having had a Nexus 5 which, after 3 years, normally needed a top up charge to get through a day is been amazing to find with the Z play I rarely get below 50% in a day so I effectively no longer need to think about battery levels - and even on the few occasions when I've forgotten to charge it overnight I've got through the next day with no problems either.

I'm loving the moto z play. Had it 2 weeks. My nexus was getting tired so I got the moto for near stock android with always listening google now. I watched the replay of the Joshua boxing fight ( they'd clipped all the breaks and adverts just to show the fighting) on half brightness . For just over 30 minutes (10 Full rounds) . My battery went down by 3%. It's great.

the camera is worse than the built in one on this though, so unless you just need to zoom on things it's a waste of money IMO. Focus time is atrocious too. You'd be better off buying a second hand RX100 M2 from Cex than using this pile of junk.

I cancelled the order for this and took your advice. I bought a mint unused rx100 that had been an unused present for £189.... It's been in the cupboard and they just put it in the trade shop.

Why does a zoom lens let it shoot in raw, it's still using the phones sensor isn't it? So it could do it anyway.

its not a zoom lens, its a strap on camera with its own sensor and features as far as i can see

well obviously, it does say 'truezoom' after all
even a rx100 isn't the same as this zooms 2.5 times as far and is smaller and cheaper
depends what you want

It's not using the phones sensor. The mod covers the phones sensor

3.6 zoom against 10 times zoom doesnt equal 2.5 times further

how many times 'further' does it reach then?
actually when i say further above, i meant 'as far' so you are correct but probably not in the way you think

Odd that amazon has no info of megapixels or anything then, I don't really see the point, why not just get a better separate camera?

Precisely. This mod adds so much bulk that you wouldn't want to leave it attached to the phone all day. Whilst it adds zoom and xenon flash the sensor size is really small and the focus time is really poor. Given that you'd probably want to carry the mod separately in your pocket, you might as well just buy a camera with wifi file transfer functionality and get better results.

Because I tried it so I can tell you. I'm on Amazon prime so I knew I could try it and send it back with no cost. I tried it and it's rubbish.

It's not as far as the Nikon p900. 84x zoom.

yes i am well aware of that which i covered in a previous post - your point is irrelevant

the function of the addon is obviously too difficult for you to comprehend
you still didn't tell me how far it reached vs rx100-2

In inches or feet?

It's about 10 giraffe legs and half a cow horn further.
