Free to unlock immediately for PAYG: ee.co.uk/hel…ork

"You can unlock your pay as you go or Flex plan device bought direct from EE as soon as you get it." <- think you just need to create EE account when you get the phone and then can unlock it

Word to the wise, bought this on last deal to do this.
It was indeed free to unlock, but took a full month ( which is apparently the SLA EE and Motorola have to get unlock codes. Motorola went AWOL on EE according to them.

I might have been unlucky but even with things working well it was planned to take 10 days.

Fantastic deal and I'm all chuffed with the piece of kit at that price* but beware of the time to unlock.

*don't buy for macro though, it's incredibly bad and gimmicky

Did you constantly have to chase them for this? I got the G8 plus but it won't unlock online. Left it with them to sort and they quoted me 10 days. After seeing your post I'm thinking this is going to be a pain...

I did. But there was nothing they could really do because it was on Motorola's side and it was quite clear they didn't have direct access and were only using a ticketing system so calling them over and over would be a waste.

It took just about 30 days. It was in early March. Hopefully I got unlucky and you'll get yours in the 10 days . You'll get an email and a text with the codes.

Good luck!

Thanks mate. I'll keep on at them. Understand it's not really their fault. Although That said they should make it clear on their site that some phones are difficult to unlock currently.
Cheers

Good to know. The wording on the EE website made me think it'd be an instant unlock.

Me too. I mean for the prices they offer the phones I'd probably don't again with knowledge that ot will be a faff to unlock but still the website makes it sound so easy....

Hi just incase you are still thinking about this, I got my UNLOCK code today so overall about 2 weeks wait. Not bad considering the cheap price of handset. Overall would recommend

Thanks for the update. Good for people who still have a working phone but if you need a replacement in a hurry then maybe something to bear in mind.
