same price at Expansys, both on Amazon marketplace and their web (3% Quidco cashback, TCB similar I believe)

I think after today's announcements in the press, we might see prices drop further on this tab. Hot for now, but I'm gonna hold out.

Good luck to the Moto employees caught up in the middle of it all.

With more Quad-Core tablets' releases this year we shall see more reductions on various overpriced big brand Dual-Core tabs with silly Billy price tags.

Some of them do have microsd slots, it depends on where the tablet has come from

Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
+ No custom roms.

Actually it runs ICS .

The ics update has been released

I have the Xoom 1 and it is much better. Has a bigger screen, has a MicroSD slot etc etc.

Cold, not an ipad.

Thats right, mine updated on Friday. Long awaited update I might add. Motorola are always slow releasing updates to their phones/tablets.

seriously? Its a deal for the Xoom 2 media edition
Since it also doesnt have built in sandwich toaster it should be cold
No sd is the spec of the item.
So either vote on the deal for a Xoom2 or dont. its a deal for that unit. if you can find it cheaper then knock yourself out

What are Moto like at warranty repairs, as my 3G version of this Tab has WiFi issues (connects to routers but not the Internet )?
Is ICS available for the 3G version because mine states that Honeycomb is up to date ?

on hardware apart from the sd slot I disagree. This has a better processor and a better quality screen. But you can get jellybean ona xoom and not on this. The nexus 7 is a much better buy at this price.

nice alternative to the Nexus if you want HDMI

yes better than the nexus 7 because of the HDMI

depends....
i just bought the nexus after sending back a aurora 2... i have no regrets at all... nexus is so responsive and the size is great.
im now selling my ipad 2 3g to make up for what i spent, i'll have a few £ change as well
Edited by: "cigbunt" 13th Aug 2012

This beats the nexus 7 if you want a rear-facing camera (which the Nexus 7 doesn't have).

i dont think its a case of beats or not beats it depends what features you want out of a tablet.

Feature comparison against the Nexus 7 here:

gsmarena.com/com…306

Personally I find the screen on the Nexus too small compared to the Xoom or Sony S series but others may prefer the size as its more portable.

ha ha i love a comedian - voted cold because it is not something else

For those unhappy about the lack of an sd card - do some research. it us easy to root this and then get a cheap usb on the go cable and add as much as you like, not ideal but beats cloud data.

Check out XDA or Modaco for info etc

great for price - hot

Seen this in Carphone, v. tempting, like the screen size/quality and the weight, less keen on the lack of support, shoddy software (no simple drag and drop) and mixed reviews regarding batteries and charging.

Is the unit now stuck with Honeycomb with little chance of ICS, official or otherwise?

No, this is a tablet. If you must narrow the definition then I'll accept Android tablet. The name is meaningless; that which we call a rose...

Why would I buy it ove the nexus... Size a of screen? (But worse quality)

No Google Play Credit £15 on Nexus.. so making the 16 N7 the same price. Cheaper with Quidco Etc.

same resolution, same IPS technology, 1.2" bigger so ppi slightly lower, but nothing too bad.

what makes you say it's worse?

thats hot from me!! good spot

I urge everyone considering buying one of these to first try out a nexus 7 and then all the other android tablets (including the transformer prime/300 etc which actually have better specs) you will notice that the nexus is fluid and really nice to use and all the other tablets are laggy and annoying to use. this is because of the terribly optimized older android os versions. Some will be upgraded to jelly bean which will make them run much better but others wont and I doubt this ever will.

I've played with the Nexus 7 and have a 10" Xoom, and both are great. The 10" is a bit big & heavy (but exceptionally durable), so I expect this 8.2" sized nicely (like the Nexus 7").

Bottom line: You can't go wrong (especially now with lower prices!) with any of the Samsung Galaxy or Moto Xoom or Nexus range... all fantastic products, just pick one with the spec that will serve you best!

If I did not have a Xoom already, I would have jumped for the Nexus!

Seems it also has an 800 x 1280 screen so it is a big alternative to the Nexus.
With GPS, HDMI and normal bluetooth it is also an ultra light high resolution alternative to the iPad 2.
