Firstly, thanks to member 'HUKD123' for pointing out this voucher deal in an earlier thread and also member 'thesnowman86' for highlighting another Tablet and making me aware of deal (this thread now expired as no stock about for that particular model).

Please note you need to have (or have access to) an Android based smartphone or Iphone to get this deal.

If you download the 'app' mentioned by HUKD and follow the instructions the 'prize' for today is £50 off all Tablets excluding Ipads. Offer runs from today until 4/12/11.

Once you have the 'Barcode' saved on your phone (or friends phone/family members phone) you need to make the purchase in-store and then present the Barcode to get the £50 discount.

You can check stock online and reserve for store pick up and then collect and present the Barcode.

I will post links for App download in 1st post - just follow instructions.

I have just highlighted what I think are the best deals but should work with all Tablets except Ipads. Will try and include as many links in 1st post rather than clogging up Forum with individual deals for each Tablet.

Hope this makes sense but if unsure just ask and sure either myself or other helpful members can provide assistance.

Xoom the best?

I am looking for an IPAD but are these actually any better or do the same ? Or what is the actual difference

Thanks

The Asus Eee Pad has the better reviews. Most put it just behind the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the best android tab list.

These WILL run a flash based website (that's a website that has animations on the page), an iPad won't run flash on ANY website as it doesn't support flash. A lot of online game sites run the games in flash so you couldn't play ANY flash based games online.

iPad's a fantastic devices there's no doubting that but for me (just my opinion), the lack of flash support rules them out. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab (an Android Tablet), and it's excellent.

What are people going for? I reckon the Asus Transformer @ £249.99 is the best reduction and value for money here?

well spotted - some good deals there!

Nice info Stuart. Thanks.

The Flash debate will be almost over by this time next year. HTML5 will be in greater use by then given Adobe's lack of continued support on mobile devices. I use both iOS and Android and have to say that with each step up the ladder, Android is becoming more polished and it is great not being stuck in Apples closed bubble. More developers are making apps for Android although the greater volume is still with iOS. iPad's are a great device, I would hang on for the newer Android devices to come out if you can as the price on these will continue heading south.

Thankyou......am really not very technical....am BLONDE YEHHH !!! Lol ......i just fancy a new gadjet !

Essentially they do the same thing but whether they are better comes down to personal opinion - these Android tabs are much more customisable you can change the entire look of the device on screen whereas with the iPad it relies on the same list of apps as the iPhone.

The iPad uses Apple's iOS software - the same as iPhones etc.
These tablets all use Android - which is Google's operating software. These therefore use Google's app store rather than Apple's - mostly the same apps but run by different companies so if the app costs then Google would charge even if you have paid for Apple's version & it doesn't require iTunes, just a gmail account.

There are loads of Youtube reviews of these tablets and comparisons between the iPad and these.
Personally I would choose the Asus Eee Pad over all other tablets (inc iPad) except the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 - I tend to prefer the freedom Android offers - I can choose exactly what the device does and when it does it. It doesn't mean the iPad is bad, just that it restricts what you can/can't do etc but that is just my personal preference.

fantastic....I missed out on the Transformer deal at amazon @ £279.99 and was about to buy from play.com @ £289.99....have already reserved 1 TF for collection this weekend. Left my android phone at home so will install apps tonight...

Now need to find a nice cover + purchase mifi from 3

Thanks OP

Eh???

Added heat for the effort. I'm personally waiting for the Asus Transformer prime which is due to be released in the UK in January.

Techradar have posted a quick hands on review here, with a proper in-depth review due next week.

save up and get an iPad

For once a genuinely intelligent justification as to why someone prefers this to an iPad without the usual slander. Well done!

Agree for the waiting. In my case it is a present to OH, therefore browsing, emailing, etc; i.e., light user...It will be more than enough for her...

Prime will command a high price though....

if the price is going south is it better to wait for a better price

Haha, flash is dead. It's implementation is extremely poor and was included only for that extra column inch.

Impossible to get if your in scotland it seems.

Xoom the best?

old stuff

Asus Eee Pad is tablet of the year. I would go with keaboard for £349.99 after discount

has this deal expired? When I downloaded the App the only deal available was £5 off headphones. Think there may have only been a limited number at this price

Most tablets seem to be out of stock by me (Liverpool). I am tempted by the Iconia but really would prefer the Transformer as it will get ICS, but it is out of stock.

Also tempted by the Archos G9 80 as I am pretty sure they are fixing the "ripple" issue soon but it is out of stock anyway.

You have to use the app correctly.

How so - when I checked stock in and around my area (Stirling) there seemed plenty stock of Xoom in all stores and stock also available in other stores for the 2 others mentioned in the title.

comments like this are so over the top wrong.

who do you think is going to reprogram all those sites and flash games? ???

OK more and more sites will be built using Html5 once its standardized.

as to comments earlier in this and other threads Adobe haven't abandoned flash, they are just not doing any more new flash for mobile, but they are maintaing the latest version that is just a few months old with updates.

after all Adobe Air uses flash and that's a product they are not abandoning

so in reality if you want the whole web non apple is the only way to go.

if you are not worried about flash (and most people don't miss it) then an ipad is a great bit of kit.

If your not very technical and cash isnt much of an issue then get the iPad. For a non gadget/technical person the user interface on an iPad will probably suit best.

IMO android is great for anyone who likes to get the most out of their devices. A lot of the time this will involve installing homebrew/custom ROMS etc etc which IMO isnt the easiest for novice gadget users.

Did you go into the Advent Calender part and open the door for the 2nd December?

Oh and if you are going down the Android route i would probably have a look into which devices are slated to get an Ice Cream Sandwich release. Am sure most of the top end ones will, some of the cheaper ones might not.

Just for reference I just googled about the eee pad transformer and from what I read it sounds like the transformer will be upgraded to 4.0.

Is it just me or does the dock sound expensive at a £100? Highly considering going for the eee pad without the dock. £250 is probably my limit (what I'm willing to pay) tbh and I don't expect newer devices like the prime to be hitting that sort of level for a while.

I got a Transformer from play at £279.99 and it's had to go back.

There was a spec of dust under the screen, which for a device which is focussed on it's screen is a pretty major flaw, the power and volume buttons are very loose, left speaker balance was off and there was banding on the screen which would shimmer.

Add to this that the plastic beading around the edge of the screen was damaged (not in transit or by me) and I'm not very impressed, Honeycomb is a joy to use though. I look forward to getting a good replacement.

hmm I am confused:/ can anyone help me choose between sony s 16gb and asus eee pad transformer? I am a girl and also love gadgets:). We are travel very offen so i would use them to check mails, watch movies. play games:D etc. and I Don't want Ipad2:)

Voted Cold just went to currys, voucher rejects at till. Went to buy an Acer A500 32Gb. Awaiting Currys contacting me (which they said they would). It did scan off the phone once the brightness was on full. Tried doing it as a non-reserve online (more like a walk in pick it up) no luck there either. Got the store manager envolved, never seen it before. If it don't work and the till he says tough. Any one had any luck p.s. Store is Cheltenham, Tewkesbury Road.

eee pad is the best of the bunch and is getting ics update very soon

ps i have an ipad and a transformer , wife uses ipad more and i use the transformer rooted overclocked to 1.6 ghz custom rom (revolver) and it has a great ips screen . if you are non technical get an ipad other wise get a transformer
