The Motorola Xoom WiFi is the first Android Honeycomb device available with solid hardware. Not a bad deal if you dont want to go down the Apple Tablet route (or you are an Android bunny). To the Apple fanboys, please dont flame, Im not saying the Xoom is better or worse, just thats its one of the better deals for this product. Also, 4% cashback from Dixons, so potential of getting it for £459.84 with free shipping.

As for me I think Im going to wait for the HP Webos Tablet, but will go down to the local Curry's and have a play with the device

That I like!

I think Motorola will drop the price to match the iPad 2 very soon and the manufacturing numbers for the Xoom are baffling, there are not making many in three months as they are either not expecting to compete with the iPad or will be releasing a new model.

Ye gads! I just posted a forum comment about this too. I pre-ordered on Friday last week at £499.99, but I've just phoned them and they're going to refund the £20 difference.

p.s. only 1.5% quidco on ipads, tablets and ereaders sadly.

Xoom, is nice, shame they wont xoom off the shelfs!

Hmmn, okay price for this device at the moment so heat added, however, as others have said, (plus added to the fact this is Wifi only), I would hold sway for a month IF you want a Xoom.

I heard a rumour that EVERY tablet coming out is aiming to be the next size zero (_;) so all the current release models will be the Bella Embergs of the tablet world and will most likely see an idiotic price drop in the next few months!

Has to happen if they even want to nibble at the iPad domination.

I suppose thats the one good thing about the iPad2 price, it will push these down a bit. I have to say the Xoom UI in user videos has been impressive.

Its a shame the Tegra2 GPU isnt pushing out the same stuff as the iPad2..

Only real issue as a product is the lack of app's. Currently only 50-100 native Honeycomb apps (obviously loads of phone apps), but this doesnt really show off the product.Im not a massive Apple fanboy, but to their credit, they launched the first Ipad with close on 1k native apps (I maybe wrong), but it just meant the experience was better. Either way, its good for the consumer, the next 12 months the tablet market will really hot up. Happy days

Agreed, however, people have to remember that the reports about the GPU prowess on the pad2 (as good as it is for that type of device) is being done on FULLY optimized software written specifically for the device, so comparing it to a GPU that has NOT been fully optimized is a bit tardy to say the least.

Also, having the grunt is absolutely of NO USE what-so-ever IF you are only ever going to be surfing the net or doing basic stuff. A tablet is NEVER going to be a handheld gaming system for one reason among many - It's size. So please DONT be swayed by what the benchmarks say. Buy to suit your needs/requirements.

When I buy another tablet it will be based on price/usability and weight. IF/WHEN I want a replacement to the DSi/PSP for handheld gaming it will be with a machine that fulfills ALL the requirements in that field i.e. NGP
