Got an email from Lenovo today about their Motomadness offers and thought this was a good deal as the mods themselves are worth over £100 on their own, seems a decent spec too for a mid range phone.

Have moto/lenovo addressed their horrendous battery cell issues yet?

If not I'd steer well clear

What issues?

I have the z2 force and its best phone I have had for ages and I usually change every 4 weeks lol. I get 6 to 7 hours sot which is amazing considering the battery size and how thin the phone is.

Z range had a lot of battery issues, go look in the motorola/lenovo forums, mine started to go off below 60%, then completely stopped holding any charge. If it wasn't for the battery, moto z range is one of the best close to stock android phones available.

motorola failed to honour the warrenty and was difficult getting any support from them so thats another issue and hardly any 3rd party repair centres. Lucky I paid through PayPal who ended us sorting it out in the end.

Also this is the "play". I'm sure the z2 force was on black Friday sale at ebuyer for £300, without the motomods - depends how much You would use the mods or if you want better spec phone.

Fingers crossed it does not get that fault as I really like it.

I got my z2 force for £203 from ebuyer so was a bargain.
Humms got it above yeah, battery cutting off and refusing to turn back on, massive %age drops for no reason.
Even difficulties charging, I argued SADFART with them and ended up getting a full refund

Won't go near a Moto/lenovo phone now after seeing the state of their support
Not showing for me

Will delete this now, sorry for duplicate
How do I remove this deal? Or I just click on expire?

I have a Z Play which I bought because of the legendary battery. It is the dogs dangly bits. After 18 months I still get 2 days of moderate use I have about 35% left and I recharge it. I couldn't be happier.
I have the moto z bought from John Lewis. Motorola's 7.1 upgrade killed the battery. Since it was still under the 2 year guarantee Motorola sent it for free repairs. It came back in 2 days with an upgrade to Oreo. Since then the battery has been exceptional. I get nearly 2 days with a full charge.
I bought myself and the mrs the Moto Z2 force when it was black Friday for 200 on its own with headphones, I thought that was a steal. Very good phone series so far. Considering I purchased those two mods for our phones and were over 100 (or around if looking used) this z3 is a good deal but not as good as the Z2 just because of the specs that were given at that price.

Still if you want a modern 18;9 design, Moto mods or stock android with pretty much guaranteed two major os upgrades, this is a go.

That's good to know pal, my son has the Moto Z and just before Christmas he was complaining about the battery drain with weird percentages all over the place, he then broke the screen out of warranty. long story short I bought a replacement screen and battery from Ebay, an hour with a heat gun and steady hands I had them replaced and so far the last few weeks he's having no problem since the update to Oreo.

I'm no expert but I had read that it was Nougat update that screwed up the battery memory by allowing it to over charge, but that issue has now been resolved. I can see why that will dent consumer confidence though.

If anyone is interested the battery was only £11 and the glass/LCD/Digitiser was £69, and I found it quite easy to do.

I had a Moto Z before the Z2 and hated their customer service though. My speaker started crackling ( common issue if you Google) and I had to send it to repair it, came back with a bent screen and dented frame. Sent back like 2 more times and then got a refund because they can't do their job. Got fed up to the point where it put me off Moto for a full year and came back just now because how cheap the Z2 was and how I missed mods.

Also it seems like the speaker design is different from Z2 onwards so shouldn't be an issue on this either.

Overall I just hope Moto does not disappoint me again, considering how much I love the Z series.
My Moto z had big battery issues. Got full refund from Amazon. Wouldn't risk it again...

It certainly does hammer consumer confidence. But now that I read that this z3 play comes with the 8.1 Oreo I might consider it. Its a good bundle. I already have the projector mod.
They just released the Z4 Play

They just released the Z4 Play

Technically not released, just announced for mid 2019 release, so if you don't want to wait the Z3 Play is your only choice
