Worth every single penny
Checked this an hour ago and it was 29.99. Quite happy to sit back and let this one drop to 20ish before I make the purchase. Plus with bug fixes going in almost every few days, you’ll be getting a better experience in the long run

maybe in a year time, its too barebone currently, definitely not a 8 year development game. less than an hour into the game, and you will realise, everyone has the same dialogue, same 5 or so variations of fetch quest for everyone, unintuitive UI and lack of explanation on basically everything

Pretty much the same game with updated graphics then? That's a shame, though to be fair that is pretty much how every other game franchise operates these days.

It does feels like the same game with updated graphic and some small change here and there. new Map is bigger, different fractions, politics etc but dont expect any big change in any aspect of the gameplay. overall its feels like a game from a decade ago. Its not a bad game, if you like the old school M&B, you will like this one as well. but dont expect any polish, its just as rough as the the original

This 100%. At the moment it definitely feels like the old game with new graphics. Oh and it crashes every five minutes. Yet still weirdly compelling...

That's disappointing to hear, but can't say it's unexpected. I bought the first M&B when it was still version 0.2 something. It understandably had a few issues and took a few years to reach release but was much better in the end with only some minor issues left. It was ahead of it's time when it started, but the engine is pretty dated now and has several processing limitations. I'm not sure it's a big dev team working on it either but I was impressed with what they did in the end. Can the new version handle larger battles?
I'm certain I'll love the newer version but I've got plenty of hours left in Viking Conquest & Warband and haven't even started Fire and Sword yet! I think I'll wait for it to have a bit more polish and a lower price. There will no doubt be a couple of DLC's coming too, plus I'll get a better rig to max out the battle size and really enjoy it!
I've played about 24 hours of this during the last few days. I would say it does feel like a marginally improved graphical update to warband. I'm not massively impressed that the AI are still thick as hell and will sometimes just stand idle even when commanded, and big battles tend to make the game run very jankily even on a high end system. Villages and castles are empty and sparsely dotted with brain dead nobles that all have the same dialogue choices, very low effort regarding this. I like the way they've deepened the diplomacy element to being part of a kingdom and that you can build seige equipment when attacking castles. I'm hoping that they come through and deliver on all the promises from their E3 2016 showing of the game as it goes throught the early access process.

I so want a Napoleonic Wars multiplayer DLC for this game eventually like the one they created for Warband.
