i needed a cheap rear mech for an old bike to convert to 1x10,
this derailleur is quality. No clutch mech button (aka shadow+) on it, but i've not been dropping the chain so no problem.

This is the SGS model (ie Long) so can be used with double and triple chainrings also.

Please note it is 10 speed, if you are upgrading from 8 or 9 speed you'll need a 10 speed cassette, chain and shifters

these are £33 on CRB/Wiggle and the Deore M615 is £36.99, so a very good saving.

Mine came in retail packaging, and not OEM

tough choice this, slightly higher graded slx, or the deore that has the chain tensioner (shadow+ clutch mechanism)

£19.99 for the deore with a Shadow+ ie Clutch Mech

No brainer if you want or are already using a tensioner system

This is very little difference between Deore and slx other than aesthetic (and name)

In this case however there is medium and long cage to consider also!

No consideration needed, you need to do the maths based on chain ring sizes / cassette ratio and buy the correct cage length.

long cage SGS only matters if you are using double or triple cranks, the SGS/GS on a 1x10/11/12 setup is no problem, as even the shorter GS covers the bigger 11t-42T casette on the rear, lots of reviews/Q&A on crc to that effect

Correct, I was referring to those wanting to use it with a double or triple set up.
