I travelled for 2.5 years with the older version of this bag...and it was amazing. This is a heavily updated version of my older bag. More durable, better lofting, nicer materials & still incredibly light (720grams).

I know it's a niche deal - but this is far and away the cheapest online right now...and even cheaper with 7% Quidco. It's a bag that travels easily as hand luggage - but will keep you warm down to freezing (and below, as tested). These bags have an amazing ability to retain warmth.

My older bag was the Mountain Equipment Xero.

Can’t beat a niche deal to amaze armchair viewers how much quality equipment in outdoor sports costs, while they keep voting on the 24 cans of coke deals

If this is as good as their bastion jacket it will be superb.
I don't want to float away in the middle of the night should I peg it down?

I thought this was a deal for a giant turd at first

You might want to pop down to your local A&E if your turd is black with a brown opening in it

Expensive for a lower comfort of only 3c, I would look more at a snugpak softie elite 3 personally for less money.

This bag is 705 grams. The Softie is 1,600 grams...

(They aren't even close to comparable).

Yup, hard to beat this for weight/rating/price combo, other than the Chinese alternatives (Aegismax). Good deal, hot.

I couldn't really justify those Chinese bags as I wouldn't trust them to source the down ethically.

These ME bags are created using down from already slaughtered birds. Essentially making use of a by product, rather than putting birds through repeated plucking. (Which is just about the only way I can justify buying anything with down)

Yes, a very good point which I should've mentioned... I've avoided the Chinese bags for the same reason, but everyone has to set their own red lines, and they're undeniably good value. Still, agree that something like ME is most certainly the most ethical choice.

Do love some of the camping equipment out of China these days tho... some of the tents are crazy value.

Totally agree. I've got a Wolfwise MSR Hubba Hubba clone. Cost me £69.99 from Amazon. It is the same weight, has been through some bad Norwegian weather - and is still in perfect condition. Aside from the woefully bad pegs

But yes, I really can't stomach the thought of sleeping or wearing something that has caused serious and avoidable animal suffering.

I also just trust ME bags having had mine perform so brilliantly over the past 2.5+ years.

You cannot go wrong with Mountain Equipment (do not confuse with Mountain Warehouse). This is a nice 3 season bag if you follow the comfort limit as a male. If you're new to higher cost higher spec outdoor gear it has a good weight and pack size as noted by Yadiyada.

If you're wanting something that reaches to -3 comfort limit the Helium 400 at £25 more with 150g weight increase.

Just wanted to say thank you yidiyada . Although I missed this product, because of this deal (I had never heard of Mountain Equipment before) I searched and got two ME Starlight III bags for £49 each from GoOutdoors. Had to travel to get them but for the price I felt it was worth it, what with the quality and the value. The ethical sourcing of the materials is a big deal to me, so am delighted.
