I've been going to Whitby on the North East Coast on holiday for past 14 years and have rarely entered the water as its too bloody cold. My excuse, if I needed one was that I'm a soft Southerner, having grown up in Southampton and spent many summers riding out to the South Coast to beaches like Bournemouth.

My kids now aged 14, 12 and 10 have not had the pleasure of summer breaks on the South coast, instead they have grown up used to the North East Coast but are fearless and have absolutely no hesitation getting straight in there.

This year, having purchased this cheap wetsuit from Mountain Warehouse I'm not going to spend my holiday sat outside the beach hut on a deck chair but I'm going to get my feet wet at least!

The reviews for this wetsuit are pretty good, if I actually enjoy my holiday more by spending some time in the water with my kids then it will be more than worth the £27.99 (less 5% Quidco) and I'm looking forward to getting into the water!

As mentioned, reviews are pretty good for this wetsuit on Amazon (at £34.99 - amazon.co.uk/Mou…uit), buying direct and using the code is cheaper at £27.99, plus for 24 hours its free delivery.

I guess you can used the code for everything on the Mountain Warehouse along with the free delivery...I'm just posting the wetsuit as an example.

There are obviously other budget wetsuits out there but if you just want to try one out this must be a bargain and a pretty good deal?

Here is the marketing blurb...

If you want to get active in the chill waters of the UK (e.g.Whitby), then you will be in need of the Mens Full Wetsuit from Mountain Warehouse.

Could be talking about many different things
Longest preamble to a deal I've ever seen, no time for swimming!

Really good deal but unfortunately not for me, i need a bit more buoyancy in my wetsuits. 2.5mm is pretty thin for open water swimming.
This will be fine for splashing about in a British summer sea near the shore - give you a bit of buoyancy and will keep you warm enough to enjoy it. Also will protect you from sunburn except for the crispy ears & nose.
Thank you found women's also same price mountainwarehouse.com/wom…le/ ordered for my daughter for body boarding
Hmm, what's up with the sizing? L/XL is the top end option and the sizing chart talks about trousers! What I want to know is will this fit around my 40" (yes I know) waist?
Perfect. Ordered for collection
No green which is a shame, I wanted to be Kickass
I can't seem to get free delivery. Am I missing something!? Heat added!
COLD, literally cold as to quote "Designed in 2.5mm neoprene fabric" there is actually a point between the 2 and 5.

warm waters in Maldives recommend 5mm, cold water recommends 10mm+ this is really thin at 2point5mm. Even for the price this is cold, a cheap 5mm (and even 10mm if on sale) suit would cost the same.

I have swam in whitby and this is just not good enough, you need 10mm as the water is very cold not 2.5mm. Swimming in the North Sea you need a dry suit as 15mm does not make the cut!

Exactly, my wetsuit is 5mm and i still feel cold when the water is 18 degrees. i wouldn't even consider swimming in a 2.5mm suit.
I've used a 4mm in water temperatures down to 12C. I would not want anything thinner in UK or Irl waters.
Got some decent ones for cheap from here: solesupfront.com/t/wetsuits

I'd be grateful if you could point me in the direction to any of the suits you mention for around this price?

All I want is to splash around in the water with the kids for half an hour a few times each day...anything will be an improvement on wearing nothing but some swim shorts, which I have done only once.

I couldn't recommend a quality wetsuit for this price, that'll be impossible. However, if you only require one for a short duration you can hire a pretty good suit for a week, month or an entire season at the same price. see mywetsuithire.co.uk/ . most give you the option of paying a little more to own the wetsuit if you decide to keep it afterwards.

i suggest you actually try swimming in a proper wetsuit before you waste your money on something like this.

What is the point of posting anything on HUKD if you're suggesting premium products can be purchased elsewhere for more money LOL!

5/5 on Mountain Warehouse website, 4.2/5 on Amazon and other sites giving it fair reviews - given it is was now less than half price, with free delivery maybe you're losing the point of HUKD and are just a wetsuit snob?

Maybe I'm not the southern softie I thought I was if you dare not go into UK waters without wearing anything less than a 10mm wetsuit LOL!!

Haven spoken to a friend that holiday's on the East Coast and wears a 3mm suit I think I'm happy with my purchase, thanks for your input.

I have a limited amount of money to spend...half price less 20% and free delivery less 5% Quidco = a good deal in my opinion.

If I'm sat on the deck chair again this year and the suit is left unused then I'll eat humble pie...but do you know what, I don't think I will!

My advice was to try swimming in a wetsuit first before committing to buy one. But like you point out, you can "buy" this one for the price of renting a proper one. Let us know how your trial goes.

And for crying out loud, no need to be a baby about it. my very first comment was that this was a great deal, just that it wasn't a wetsuit i would wear. you asked for recommendations and i gave you one. You don't like it, you dont need to take it.

Eh, I don't get this. My 4mm/3mm steamer sees me (along with neoprene hat and boots) happily surfing through the winter months. And I am a bit of a fair weather fairy. 1.5cm - can you even move in those!? Must be a joke unless ice bergs are around!

You Don't need 5mm to swim in the Maldives!

You may want a 5mm to scuba dive in the Maldives
Awesome price for a wetsuit, I can't justify buying one but I've added some heat to warm the water up a bit!

10/15mm wetsuits? I would love to see someone try to swim in that...which of course I won't as they don't exist...because you wouldn't be able to move in them.

2.5mm for a bit of recreational swimming in the UK summer will be fine. I kitesurf in the winter with a 5/4mm, along with gloves, boots and a hood, sure it isn't always 'warm' as such, but neither is it cold. In the summer it is a 2mm shortleg long arm suit. Swim in a 5mm in the Maldives, unless deepwater diving, and you are going to die from heatstoke! The water is 28-30 degrees all year round!
how do u get free delivery?

I would look out for sales, cheaper to buy in Australia or the states but there are good sales around here too, last year saw descent wetsuits at LIDL or was that ALDI. If you go in store you can always haggle.

@xdavemarshallx several years ago I brought a really decent TWF 10/15 mixture suit, gave quite good arm and leg movement and kept me warm. Personally prefer a dry suit - it can get cold if you have ever dived in ice water/north sea.

Also 10mm is when brand new, after the first use it gets smaller, my 10/15 suit is more like 6/10 mixture now

I still feel this particular deal is cold especially for the price and what you are getting.

you'll never get a decent wetsuit from a supermarket or motorway services where they always seem to sell them.
