Been looking at buying a new one ... reduction massively exaggerated ... about going rate as similar ones now

Oos.

I have one of these. Had nothing but problems with it hunting. The carburettor on these is very poor. I've rebuilt it twice and had to clean it many times. I would stick to a briggs engine if I were you. Plus Mountfield customer service is rubbish. Not interested once warranty is over. Had a briggs and Stratton that lasted 20 years prior to the ignition finally wearing out. Wished I had just spent the 70 quid on a new part and not 150 on one of these.

Most sub £400 (mower) Briggs is Chinese tat too now. As you say the carb jets are tiny and run too lean most of the time. You might be able to get round the hunting by bending the throttle tab to up the revs or bypassing the linkage altogether. But should you have too on a new mower? Absolutely not.

My advice, pick up something with a Honda engine and never look back. Cheap mowers are a false economy.

Agree with other posters. I had one which came with a 5 year warranty but when I had a problem with the engine their customer services told me the engine wasn't covered.. Not impressed

I'd been looking forward to buying my first petrol mower last year. Picked up one of these in a similar offer. Build quality seems a little on the cheap side where it can be.
Price seems ok, I'm not voting hot or cold.
