Thank you, Op. Definitely deserves heat.
Excellent post - THANKS!!!
Used to sell this stuff, back in the day. I'll leave this comment here....

"The Mucopolysaccharide polysulphate component of Movelat/Movelat Relief is recognised as having a weak inhibitory effect of PGE2 synthesis and an indirect effect on LTB4 production based on in vitro studies."

**cough** placebo effect **cough**

If you'd like some actual localised muscular pain relief (ie don't want to take tablets) then just buy any generic diclofenac gel!
Thanks for that

Absolutely - in effect a very weak rub-on aspirin as it is a metabolite of aspirin - a substance more usually used for some skin conditions.
Cheers! Very useful

What names do these go by in the shops? Voltarol is diclofenac, but not sure the names of the generics?

Ask the Pharmacist, various brands such as Voltaren and Volatarol in supermarkets too; there is also Ibuprofen gel in Supermarkets under their own or other labels, generally much cheaper still.

Ibuprofen gels don't contain any diclofenac ingredients. You can get cheap gels like Deep Freeze & RadianB, but they are not that much use. Voltarol is good, but pretty expensive. A generic version would be good, where you aren't paying for a trademarked name, hence why I was asking for a name of a generic you could get at supermarket/superdrug/boots etc

Of course it doesn't, but it is a Non Steroidal anti inflammatory drug just as Diclofenac is and as for efficacy, they are much of a muchness, but usually much cheaper in generic form. Debatably safer too, although gels are not presumed to have the same dangers to heart function as oral Diclofenac.
