It's Mozart. So it's pretty good quality. I predict a bright future for this talented young man.

There are not the greatest recordings according to those in the know, I paid double this and was very happy with them. They sound great to my ears:thumbsup:

They're absolutely fine for newcomers to Mozart. If you're a connisseur you wouldn't be buying this anyway.

musicals, classical music record producer

This looks ideal for a Xmas gift for family.
If this isn't the best quality-wise though, can somebody point me towards some Mozart CD's that are please?
Thanks in advance.

Depends on which pieces you are after... you can't go far wrong with the Philips releases of 1991. They released everything the man ever wrote (or allegedly wrote), and you can buy them in genre boxed sets.

Love the description. When my father was running a little short of marbles he used to refer to his favourite composers as the dead german, gay russian and that spaniard! Knowing who he meant was the scary bit!

Voted hot, though it would be great if HMV or Amazon would sell this collection in 3 DVDs with all the music in flac (or any other lossless format).

Agree - only flac compression is acceptable for this sort of material.

Voted hot!

It'll be interesting to see how (if!) VAT rate decrease affects gross (VAT inclusive) prices because most retailers decide the price we (public) pay i.e. they don't start with a number and add the VAT on, they pick their 'end' price e.g. £4.99, £2.99 etc. (which of course includes VAT), as opposed to companies that sell predominantly to other companies and who quote their prices "ex VAT" (therefore the £4.99 or whatever would have VAT added on to that.)

Oops! I've accidentally turned this into yet another VAT thread.

P.S. Voted hot!

Careful with these, I understand that they are covers and not recordings by the original composer :-D:p

they will change prices as they will have to amend them for their accounts anyway. vat is added later.

it would have been much easier had they lowered income tax as the reduction in vat will cost many businesses a lot of money to convert prices.

Isn't this the same price now as before the vat reduction?

Bought two for christmas, nice deal, hot. I see HMV have brought out an Alfred Hitchcock collection also tempting.

No-one has to change their prices. Just have to ensure they pay (or receive) the correct amount to the VAT man. The 'pound shop' isn't now the 97p shop is it..?

I've just been on dixons and play.com sites looking for something and appears dixons have changed prices as a lot of 'unusual' looking pricing. Play.com looks like sticking to conventional 99p on the end. I would imagine most high street shops with modern tills will be able to automatically put discounts through at checkout but I agree the VAT reduction wasn't the best idea.

It seems that many shops and businesses will no be passing the reduction on to customers, is that what Gordon wanted?

Who knows what he wanted but he surely must have realised that cutting standard VAT rate by 2.5% is not going to have much of an impact on our spending. Maybe it is more of a sweetner for businesses *shrugs*
