Mr Clutch Car Air-Conditioning Service (Recharge and Clean) £32.95 @ Groupon

Found this on Groupon while I was looking to get my air con recharged. It's the same price as ATS Euromaster (deal here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/ats-euromaster-car-air-con-recharge-anti-bacterial-clean-for-32-95-groupon-2225216) but the locations of Mr Clutch may be more convenient for some people, myself included.

As far as I can see, most places (Halfords, Kwik Fit, independent garages) charge £50+ just for the recharge, and this comes with the cleaning too, but I understand you can do the cleaning part yourself for a couple of quid at home.

You get a refund via Groupon if they find a leak and so can't do the recharge. Only worry is that you lose your money if you cancel.

Why do these types of deals always pop up the day after I have just paid full price for the same service/item?

HOT!

hot hot hot.....great deal

Anyone in the Reading area might be interested to know that their A/C servicing equipment is currently broken and the engineer isn't due to do an initial visit until Thursday.

Couldve swarn Halfords are doing this for £30 as standard?

I did read that on their site, but none of my local stores mention it as one of their services on the store finder, so I think I assumed it meant their autocentres (which now charge £50) and that was just an out of date page. Having a closer look at the page, it does say it's the pricing specifically for stores and not autocentres, so I'm not sure what to think, really.

I'd wonder if they'd be able to do a proper leak test beforehand, being a store and not a garage?

Also keep in mind this comes with the anti-bacterial clean (which puts the price at an autocentre up to £60), although this is something you can do at home on the cheap.

just booked, found this after having a quote from kwik-fit for £69 with a clean

thank you

Yep, I'm not really sure why this hasn't got hotter - the ATS one for the same price got to 500°. It would cost not much less to do it yourself, and you get your money back if you have a leak, whereas if you do it yourself and you have a leak that's £30 down the drain.

Had this done today at Mr clutch, fantastic friendly service and from having warm air blowing it now blows ice cold.
It smells nice too!

Thanks, just purchased

Had my Quidco refused today.

I got a Megane 04. Its a second hand, but by the time I got it no more cold air but noticed the compressor kicked in. Just like u guys looking for a cheap regas and found out Mr Clutch through Groupon. Cause only £32.95 beside that they used the machine so less thing to mess up hopefully thats what I thought. I arrived to Acton branch in London. Got charged for £10 for the dye but I thought its still worth it. Everything was fine according to them but asked to change pollen filter for £37 which I thought was way too much. Because of I didn't change they said I still can get the bad smell its seems to be fair enough. But I changed the pollen filter after I left the Acton and bought the filter at my local motor factors in Cloindale. Strangely the bad smell was still there for at least a week even with the new filter. That leads me to the suspicion of they didn't clean the system as advertised. After almost two weeks ac stop blowing cold air from time to time. Some time at the beginning of the journey. Call them back and they said they will charge £40 for diagnosis, could even bother to hook up the guage to tell me if the gas was less than what they put it in. I went to ac specialist and told me the condenser has the leak. If they actually put the dye and actually did the leak test they should be able to identify before fill it up. But my condenser can be look only through the grills and they probably couldn't bother to look at it in the first place or couldn't even bother to recheck it for a minute or so when I called them about ac playing up. But they will say it was cold and performed the leak test. But according to what I experienced their actions was suspicious probably they illegally filled the system. So from my experience at least avoid Acton Mr Clutch.

Stay far far away from any groupon relates to car service/repair/MOT, seriously

I had mine done in Sheffield a month and a half ago, and at the time they assured me it was not leaking, so I assumed that meant they'd done the dye test. Fast forward to a month and a half later (the day before yesterday), AC suddenly stopped working, 3 days before I was due to set off on a driving trip through Europe. Having read user002's story a few days earlier, I didn't bother going back to Mr Clutch and went to an independent garage (via Good Garage scheme). They did diagnostic, found o-rings were leaking and replaced them and regassed, which came to around £125 and took a few hours. Fingers crossed this time. Gotta say, avoid this deal as it doesn't look like they're even bothering to test for leaks, which I believe is against the law.
