Double check taps. It is Essential to have double check valves installed when having an outside tap fitted, as it prevents back-flow and contamination. Cheapest around. Even if you… Read more
fish323

The backflow is to protect the mains from syphonic action should a mains burst and negative pressure result in the mains sucking water from the hose, the tap may be connected to, back into the mains.

fish323

The backflow protection must be protected from frost. Being outdoors means it is exposed to frost, so this is no good. You will still NEED a double check valve indoors with this tap.

RoosterNo1

How the hell do you get water to "back flow" against mains water pressure. .??

Riyaal

I'd be installing a double check valve indoors anyway as per WRAS guidelines

hibees

Walk into a plumbers wholesaler and buy much cheaper than this. Don't be scared of wholesalers they won't bite and will be really helpful.

...probably something to do with the fact that gas installer do really know best about gas installations?

Neil_Orangepeel

Come on wirdy...you gotta troll better than that... can't remember the last thermocouple I replaced.

wirdy

A proper service by a rgi should include a burner clean & a visual check of the igniter & thermocouple. Just lobbing on the fga & kissing off these physical condition checks is laziness.

dannysmith43

..at first glance it looks like the boiler comes with Vagina cleaner

Does seem odd. I just tested casting a few different services. These work: - Google Photos (own video files) - Now TV - BBC iPlayer - All 4 - My Five - ITV Hub These don't: - NetFlix - Amazon Prime Video

the 25i was what i had before and that was fine too. i have an electric shower and wouldn't run hot taps and the shower at the same time anyway. i rarely use the hot water taps, so the boiler is mainly doing the heating, and usually when i use the hot taps to do washing up, the heating is at a good temperature so the boiler isn't trying to heat at the same time, but i think my rads total 8k (3 big ones and 2 smaller ones), so the boiler has more power than it needs if you live in a 3 bed house with 4 or more people constantly running the hot tap and taking showers using the boiler, and having the heating on full blast it may not be the greatest, but if you have a 1 bed flat or a studio flat and live alone mainly and aren't going mad with hot water and heating the place like a sauna then this surely must be fine. certainly i'm happier with this setup than my greenstar, but it has a better thermostat that's got an online app so that makes most of a difference, but this one is quieter and cooler to the touch when it's running

Harps_Reehal

But you can't just install a boiler by picking what you think is correct. You have to do calculations.

sabresonic

Possibly a good/reasonable deal if its found its way onto this site. However, the problem I often find is no matter what boiler you decide on buying it's finding a heating engineer/plumber that you then pay (What seems to be the standard labour charge) a £1,000 to fit it in a day... (shock) I chose the wrong career path! :( Anyone who's actually looked up the purchase cost of boilers will know what I mean!

jay1

He liked his own posts and created a new account to like his own posts. I was taking the **** by doing the same ;)

GAVINLEWISHUKD

"What a sad pathetic freak you are!!!!" From the person how likes his own posts! (annoyed) Pot kettle black. (lol) Anyway back to the thread. Is 10l/m over 12l/m enough? Well my kitchen sink takes 10l to fill. So 60 sec to fill Vs 50 sec to fill. Is that 10 sec so important, probably not. Oh but what if you are filling a bath I hear you say. Not everyone had a bath. Oh but what about the shower I hear you say. Many people have electric showers. But,but, but. If 25kw combi boilers were not suitable for any situation do you think the likes of Vaillant, Baxi or Bosch would bother making them? (confused) Ps I'm not a heating engineer.

I have this with my new valiant kit. Put it on a new vaillant and you can’t beat it. For new vaillant system boilers with a cylinder you don’t even need them Honeywell valves

spockie

That thermostat is sure big and ugly. It looks like ambisense is another smart heating product and is expandable and not compatible with vsmart which I think it replaces. Have to do more research on which one to go for.

androidavis

This might be an option

spockie

Further research and seem Vsmart does not support heating zones :( I guess I can use those old fashion manual radiator thermostats instead.

Aaaaacwhooo

I don't think vsmart will do zoning. Might be wrong though. Ask Vaillant tech support they are usually helpful (y)

i have a 3bed semi about 12 rads. 32kw is more than sufficent... just make sure you get the ideal filter too.. that will get you 10 year warrnty and nest thermosat for opentherm

jimm1364

I bought the boiler as per OP, but bought the controls and magnaflow filter separately. I'm no plumber or gas fitter but can only say that it has performed faultlessly since fitted in November and my gas bills are showing a 50% reduction. I had a convential system before. I would definitely recommend this boiler, I think that with any make you take a risk regardless of which badge is on the front.

ashtad

What size house you got and how many bathrooms and Rads in total.... I'm looking at the new vogue 2nd gen but can't decide between if 32kw is ok or need the 40kw

not really a deal as this is their normal price

andynicol

Have mulled over a new boiler for a while now and Mr.Central Heating is my 1st stop for pricing, have tried pricing elsewhere and can't buy it cheaper especially as I have biggish rooms and would opt for the larger radiator sizes, if you had a smaller property there packages actually work out more expensive than buying smaller radiators elsewhere. Speaking to various plumbers, boiler efficiency on a new install should be 90% +, this one is a tad lower at 89%, but is A rated.
