I don't get the point of these dine for 2 meals........you still have to use pots etc to warm it up, so you might as well make a meal from scratch (avoiding the sodium and preservatives) or if you don't want to make a mess and you're not fussed about content, order a takeaway (which will no doubt taste 10 times better than some pre cooked attempt).

tastes nice though, hot for me!

i think the food is excellent quality....salads and fruit fresh. How much effort does it take to pop in the oven...no washing up..they come in their own cooking trays....and with an excellent bottle of wine to wash it down. Much more of a treat for me than a takeaway from the local chinese or indian

Great offer this, I try and avoid ready meals at home as much as I can as it is often cheaper and much healthier to cook yourself, I am not knocking ready meals by the way as in a rush they are very handy and there is usually something in the freezer at home.

However, M & S food is another level for me. The meals on this offer are always spot on, the wine itself is in excess of £5, sometime around the £7 mark, making a two course meal for £3-£5 very good for a weekend treat! I say a treat as most of them are pretty loaded in cals and fat!

You should try it before you comment about it! And believe me M&S food is significantly nicer than a take away! Plus where is the take away you get 2 mains, side , dessert and a bottle of wine for a tenner?
Alot of the meals on offer are healthy options and all contents in that regard are clearly marked and not what I'd call "ready" meals.

Love this deal - as long as you get in early! Nice treat for the weekend - thanks!

i totally agreed u could not make such a nice meal for 2 inc a bottle of wine for a tenna .... and it is really nice food fish and chips for 2 wud cost u more than this !!!!

The M&S meal deals are generally very good the deals well thought out and worth it.

From what I have seen of the Tesco and Morrisons efforts at meal deals I would definitely avoid, they seem to think any cheap ready meal out of their normal range is acceptable as a main course.

After M&S do this Waitrose normally follow with something similar lol

I like the food. it taste's good.

Honestly,

I dont think its worth 10quid even by a mile!

Fish and chips for 2 over £10? :w00t: £7 tops round here (Lincoln)

We keep meaning to try these Dine In meals but the only M&S supermarket for us is in the clothes shop part as well so it closes at 5 or something like that I think, no chance when we are at work

These meals rearely require using your own dishes. I've yet to come accross one that isn't cooked right in its own packaging. Try these deals. They aren't the same as the ready made meals you get off the M&S shelves normally. I couldn't make this meal for the same price.

The wine is normally about a fiver, so it's well worth it!
Looking forward to seeing the choices this week!

about £6.50 each in our town (home of the deep fried mars bar!)
Think I'll stick to M&S

The meals are very good
but the wine is absolute crap
on t5he last three or four I have tried
tescos £9 deal comes wtih a half decent bottle of wine
much better value::whistling:

Love the Ultimate mash! Hot from me.

So glad it's back !!!!

I have serioulsy missed this as it seems a good six weeks since we have had a £10 offer !!!

M and S Oakham is far nicer than any other chicken out there. I don't look for the biggest one on the shelves but some are £6-£7 each so as part of the £10 offer they are fabulous. I also go for the soft drinks rather than the wine so again don't get the "full bargain value" but I always think of the £10 as divided like this:

Main Dish = £3, Side Dish = £2, Pudding = £2, Wine/Drink = £3 giving a total of £10.

I would love to pay just £3 for a whole oakham chicken, £2 for a large salad bowl, £2 for a profiterole stack and £3 for a twin elderflower presse so that's my £10 well spent !

As I said, so glad it's back !

The M&S Free range and Organic Oakham Chickens are nice but the ones they use in this deal are just Battery chickens. The last time we took the deal and got the chicken so much fat came out it was impossible to make any gravy and the meat was oily and unpleasant.

I'll be dodging the deal this time. It's not cheap if you don't enjoy it.

Ours is £5.50 (Edinburgh) - I remember chicken was the dearest thing to get out the chippy when I was younger - its about half the price of fish now!

Gutted there's no steak again on the £10 deal as that's a really good bargain together with the side, desert and wine. Still, I'll find something to buy as everything is always nice.

These are usually a good deal, but you have to pad them out a bit with a garlic bread, a bag o taters, some veg, a few beers and another bottle of wine to wash it all down.

Yum yum, hot for me!

Whilst the Oakham aren't free range or organic they are certainly not battery chickens (see below). They are treated much better than battery ones and I think this shows in the flavour. I always go for a smaller one and have always found they cook nicely. You will get fat but I let the juices cool and skim the fat off.

From M and S website:

At M&S, all our fresh chicken is Oakham chicken. This slower growing breed, exclusive to us, comes from dedicated UK farms that we know and trust. So we can guarantee that every bird is reared in a way that meets our own standards for animal welfare.
We insist that the birds are slower grown and have a maximum stocking density of 30kg per square metre. The birds are housed on straw or wood shavings and have constant access to food and water.
To encourage bird movement, we use straw bales inside their barns, which the birds can then roost and perch on, as well as pulling and pecking at the straw.
Our chickens’ diet is a non-GM, predominantly cereal based feed that encourages slower growth (we long ago banned the use of antibiotics in feed rations for growth promotion – ahead of the EU’s ban).

Our commitment to animal welfare was recognised recently by Compassion in World Farming, who named us Compassionate Supermarket for 2008.
So next time you buy a chicken from us, you can enjoy it with complete peace of mind.

I think you may have noticed by now you're firmly in the minority here! Don't knock it 'till you've tried it.

WTF is wrong with you! what a pointless rant. and FYI some people happen to find sodium and preservatives to be delicious. i rate them as high as salt and pepper.

Great find! This deal has been featured over at Bitterwallet's daily deals!

I was more interested in the fish and chips chat.

My local does Chips, Mini Fish (still a decent size), Sausage and Peas for £2.30!
