And a few tonnes of waste plastic...

M&S should really have their own designated landfill site, so we see exactly how much excess plastic packaging they're generating each year, in order to 'premiumnise' an otherwise bland product. Crab meat sold in a plastic shaped crab shell, (designed to look like a crab shell) has to be the worst offender in their product range.
Does even 10% get recycled into anything useful? Most ends up as Landfill crud.

Im not a regular m&s shopper...but have to say, even if they are overkill on packaging, theyre food products in my opinion are far superior to regular supermarkets. If price wasnt a factor, then i would be shopping there.

Cant comment on the current account, but looks a good deal if you dont mind switching

been disappointed with the last few meal deals.all bit ordinary now.

Pleased to see the Moussaka back.
Disappointed that Frizzante has been dropped from the wine choice.

choices pretty bad now seem to keep decent stuff out of these £10 deals

8.25 litres of wine - ta OP

Good deal but portion size is too small imo

The plastic crab shell is the highlight of my visit, along with single molecule of saffron wrapped in thick plastic, encased in a glass jar and then wrapped again in plastic for good measure

Thanks for the deal. I always shop in M&S, really not any more expensive than Tesco for most things but better quality. Whether you love or loathe M&S I defy anyone to state it's not good value to get a main course, side, dessert and a good quality bottle of wine for £10!! As for the poster on about packaging and landfills, this is not the site for that. This is a site for deals and discounts not for bleeding heart enviromentalists. Go to the appropriate sites for that.

I've not seen anything packaged any worse in M&S then similar products in other supermarkets.
Generally M&S has the least bland food out of all the supermarkets.

Not sure why your hitting out at M&S when all the supermarkets do the same. If you want a target start with the biggest and work your way down.

This is a deals/discount site, not a site for enviromentalist guilt trips, go to an appropriate site for like minded individuals for that, most people come on here for a bargain, the clue is in the title.....hotukdeals

Sadly not everyone wants to take their dumps in the woods.

From what I can see it's only one £10 meal deal voucher when you first sign up, not 11

One meal deal voucher and a £100 Giftcard. 10 £10 in 100 so add that together and that's 11 meals.

I think we get it Mandy... You're not much of an environmentalist... You can shut up about it now.

Nothing worse than people telling others not to post. How do you think this site became what it is. HUKD has never been about some rose-tinted advertorial for M&S or anyone else. If you want a rose-tinted advertorial go pay for one.

HUKD has always been about the comments below not the product, some are helpful, some are thought provoking, and some are downright crass, but without the comments it would be a very dull site.

Discussion about the products is part of the understanding the deals...
... so for me the packaging is not excessive - at least no worse than any other supermarket. You can also recycle the plastic. .e.g the little dessert plastic tubs are quite strong and could be repurposed once cleaned, or more simply you can just put it in the plastics recycle bucket that you may have handy. If your local council do not offer any recycling support - try writing to your councillor with your concerns.

thanks for posting not keen on the wine but the orange will do.

1 x dine-in voucher AND a £100 M&S Gift Card which could be used for a further 10 dine-in deals.

Voted cold. Not because it isn't a decent deal IF you live near a mega M&S such as London Colney in Herts. On the other hand go to a smaller local one and there's beggar all left unless you get there at 9.00 in the morning. It's happened so many times now I don't bother looking.
It would make more sense to me if they listed what would be available in a smaller store rather than a looong list of what MIGHT be available.

Ah M&S shop of the ten Bob millionaire

Again, only 1 relatively bland option for the vegetarian (I make the joke about bland and veggie every week) in our house (or us if we fancy an alternative to meat every once in a while).

Still a hot deal though. Those Millionaire's shortbread cheesecake things, phwoar.

Guess it depends on the person but I think they're easily big enough. A whole chicken for instance...

I totally agree! I live in Wales and we have to recycle everything anyway. If you don't want it, don't buy it! Thanks for the original post, i'm looking to switch banks and I LOVE free food!

I got the TescoFinest meal deal the other day and it was superb! Also you can get 2 big bottles of Peroni or 6 bottles of coke/diet coke instead of wine,Well worth checking out
tesco.com/gro…spx?id=G00004837&icid=DHMealDeals_ad19750TW52_finest(m)

Thank you OP.

Lol im sure this must be the food that is made at a local processing plant close to me where the majority of workers are eu migrants on agency contracts.

Wonder what the profit margins are here...

Heats for the offer though.

Last time I had this I got 2 bottles of real ale in place of wine

Thanks for the heads up, heat given. I'm giving this deal a miss for a little while as it does seem to be becoming much of the same stuff all the time, you listening M&S, give us some more variety please to keep the interest.

Wow, they almost never have this deal on! What a bargain!!

herrbz

So we must only talk about deals and nothing else?

No, but to vote cold because a grocery retailer uses plastic packaging is just ridiculous. It's down to the consumer to RECYCLE the plastic. What other option is there? Biodegradable packaging that people can just chuck out onto the roadsides and not feel as bad about it? What lesson is that teaching people? I'll give you a clue... none at all. Plastic is also a preferred option for many other reasons... it can withstand high temperatures, it's light and it's cheap to recycle/manufacture.

I read so much daft things on here... but this argument is right up there with the best of them.
