Oooh any idea what's on?

Last time round, the wine we got was so bad it went straight back in the bottle and was returned. M&S were kind enough to do a double refund for the wine/vinegar. Cost £10, refund £14.

Just back from Simply Food. Got the usual chicken (£7.23), rosti potatoes (I will freeze these for a later date), blackcurrant swiss roll thingy as it serves 4, and Sangiovese rubicon, there was the option to 'upgrade' the wine to a bottle of champagne for an extra tenner.

Most other meals were gastropub pie type things and as far as I could see they could not be frozen, I usually get two meal deals one for the family (chicken) and one other for me and DH when then kids are out for tea but I only got the one today, I was a bit disappointed with the choice.

from the things that you buy, you might be better off going to Iceland

LOL! But 'Simply Iceland' doesn't quite have the same ring....

The Dine in for £10 at Tesco seems to be on pretty much all of the time in our local branch and in my opinion it's very good. I don't understand why the M&S deal still gets heat - it's not what it used to be.

Good deal, food is slightly overpriced but ..ahem.. with the wine, it makes up for it ! (_;) x hot ! x

Nothing wrong with simply iceland I go there a lot

Is the steak included in it this time?

They don't seem to have the menu up on the website yet.

I agree that the wine from the meal deal isn't always nice
.

Fantastic deal, thanks for sharing!

for the price you'd think that should be obvious - amazes me from the comments on here that people are that clouded to think that a £10 'meal deal' will come with a decent wine...........(_;)

Wine in the deals has become crap, last Barbera I had was horrible

just finished our 1.8 kg chicken (we still have half left for chicken sandwiches) and it was delicious.

Yes I'd also describe it as borderline unpleasant. Would be grateful for recommendations of the best of an indifferent lot amongst dine-in-offer wines

Steak is included but probably will not be in every store, stock can vary.

As for the persons looking for a nice wine there is no such thing I am afraid.

just had it. with duck. duck usually 9 quid on it's own. very tasty!!!!

You used to get a nice enough mid-week bottle though. Now what you get is just plain nasty.

This time you can also switch your wine out and pay an extra 10 pound and get a bottle of champagne (rrp 25 pound) so for £20 u get a 3 course meal and champagne

That's the one I took back. It gave vinegar a bad name, but the double refund took away the bad taste.

Not a great selection on the main meals. It was only the chicken that looked half decent. This meal deal is not half as good as it used to be,and give us some beers instead of the wine!

good deal, as the M&S meals for two usually are. Shame there's no veggie main with this selection.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've never had a bad meal for £10. Mmmm hog roast pie.

Am I being blind or is there no Vegetarian option?!

I use Iceland a lot for basic fruit and veg, but what happened to their idiot-proof pricing...everythings gone from a pound to £1.15---£1.35 etc. out of the blue. Not quite as attractive all of a sudden.

Is this even a deal these days ?

The bog-standard veggie fallback, Mushroom Risotto, is hidden in there.

Sorry there is Mushroom Risotto, for some reason the text ran together at the end.

Lx

The veggie options are, as always, appalling value compared to what the meat-eaters are offered

4 red wines 2 rose and 2 poor quality white vinegar again! I wonder what goes through the minds of M&S staff when they 'showcase' how poor some of their wines actually are.

The last bottle of wine I had from M&S was very nice! (Probably around Easter time) It was a red and from Spain - can't tell you the name any more because although it was great as part of a deal I wouldn't pay the £9.99 it supposedly cost on it's own, so didn't make a note of it. But would drink it again.

Also Co-op has another of their freezer deals on: £5.00 gets you: Harry Ramsden 4 large Battered Cod; Co-op oven chips, Co-op Garden Peas; An Apple Strudel and 1 litre vanilla ice cream! Not sur ehow long on for but last purchased on Saturday 16 May

Mushroom risotto is listed - Not creative but an option!

Does anyone know if these are available at the motorway services? My nearest M&S is at one.

Even though they looked after you with a double refund...you still have to have your petty say against them....grow up

The champagne upgrade for extra £10 is fair I suppose. I had a sample this morning in store and it was a very nice champagne. I believe it is normally about £25 a bottle which means you're replacing a free bottle of wine at around £6.99 a bottle for a bottle of champagne which costs an additional £10 therefore not really much of a saving.

All the previously £1 items are still 89p in our store. Is this no longer the case in some stores then?

Now that's what I call a hotdeal!!

NEVER EVER let them fob you off. Why? They can afford to give you back what you deserve ...and more if you stand your ground!

I complained about some jeans from M&S - they'd had an invisible mend (VERY naughty!) - long story short, ended up with 4 new pairs. HOT deal!

The fruit and veg that was priced at a pound for ages has gone up with us in Eastbourne....might just be the season though...not much to harvest in the UK yet, too early.

that sounds better than the M&S deal to me. The wine isn't worth having from M&S in the deal, it is dire.
