M&S Mens umbrellas - £0.99 reduced from 7.50

Found 9th Feb 2014
Found these in M&S. Labelled as £7.50 but scanned as £0.99. They checked a bunch of others and they all scanned at that price. Said it was because they have changed the design of the handles, and all the old ones are reduced.

absolutely. didn't mean to gender categorise an umbrella, M&S did that.

I work at M&S and the reason for the 99p is that is 2 year old stock and you will find it very rare to be able to get this item in any store other than outlets

Not responsibly no, so they are not allowed to buy them.

I don't think a middle leg should be required to operate an umbrella?!

There is, however, a maximum height requirement.
Launch out of door, expand and raise the umbrella just at the right level to drive straight into the eyes of the people walking around you.

Points are awarded for 'tuts' received, inches below 6ft height, number of surrounding people, walking against flow and/or slow speed. Bonus points for stopping in doorways of heavily trafficed areas (tube stations, shop entrances, etc.) to raise umbrella.

Can you tell that I am irritated?

Here here! I can think of no good reason why a man would require an umbrella - hence why M&S are selling them off.

Next you'll be telling us men types that we should only carry one bag of shopping into the house at a time rather than lifting them all at once!!

Which branch??

I agree.
Much easier to use your thumb.
You don't mind damaging your thumb also!

Do they have any Somerset-Levels-sized ones?

Just want to apologise to my local store for dumping a load on the self scanners.

None of the £7.50 ones I tried scanned at £0.99 so I had to leave them there as the assistant had disappeared

It's £7.50 in London

None in Birmingham. Wild goose was on special offer in the food hall though if anyone is interested.
