Great price.

Great price.

Can't afford it right now though, so I'll wait for the next one

good deal heat added:thumbsup:

This set has a decent review at What Hi-Fi (4 Stars)

Great price, especially with the comfort of a 5 year guarantee

Am I better off getting this, or getting the other £499 M&S Deal?

Looks a great deal. The 5 year guarantee is very attractive. Works out to cost only £6.66 per month if you kept it for 5 years - not including any cashback!

says £499 not £399

This is a great TV - bought it last year from John Lewis (paid £419 with a price match from Richer Sounds and Sony discount)
The picture is brilliant, and combined with an HD box - this should last you for many years!

Here's how (restrictions apply).

Ordered thanks! 5 year warranty swung it for me. That and the back ache from leaning forward to watch my little 19" (got rid of 32" sony CRT a couple of months ago to save space).

really happy i got the w5500 from sainsbury
sony are clearing out stock of non freeview HD tuner models for the world cup...
big discounts coming to high end models early may.

Is there a discount code to be added at checkout, or does it reduce the price by £100 at the end?

Thank You - It worked just fine!:)

This appears to be a very good deal.

I've been looking for a 37" Sony Bravia for ages, none have been sub £400 until now.

5 year warranty a bonus.

Quidco offer 5% cashback too.

Heat and rep' added.

500 degrees, should get a lot hotter. ;-)

Thank You.

I am having a totally stupid day today - can someone please tell me what the promo code is that gets this to £399 - I can't see it anywhere !!

Thanks

Anyone know what the Hz is on the S model? Seriously tempted! Even if it's only 50Hz it's still worth the money imo.

Argh - stop making me spend money ;-) I've had my eye out for a 37" TV & with the guarantee this is a fab offer. Just need to find a suitable TV stand now. Thanks

Voted hot but please be aware this is a HD Ready TV rather than being full HD.

No it isn't it is a full 1080p panel, so full HD on this one.

Though to be honest at 37" you will be lucky to spot the difference between a 720p one.

Says full HD on sony website ?

It displays 1080p at 1920 x 1080 pixels. So it is Full HD, even though it says HD Ready

Its 50Hz

The S series Sony are 50Hz, as is the V series. If you want 100Hz you need the W series, I think the Z series are 200Hz.

Marks and Spencer have the KDL-37W5500 or the KDL-32W5810 (includes freeview and HD freesat and ) both for £499. These models are 100Hz. Not as cheap, but better picture for fast moving images.

if it displays 720 or 1080 has nothing to do with it being HD ready

'HD ready' means the TV will need a sky box, freeview, freesat etc to display HD

'HD TV' means it has a receiver built-in. This is what the poster was talking about when he used the term Full HD

'HD READY' just means that it has no in built hd device ( like freesat hd or freeview hd) . It is a full HD TV but you need to plug in an external HD source ( eg. SKY HD box , Blue Ray player or Freesat HD box ) like 90 percent of the rest of the country

Beaten to it LOL

Great find, thanks! Just ordered one for my mum. Hope the remote is OAP friendly :-D

Hmm am tossing up between this one from M&S and this Panasonic 42" plasma at RS for £470 (not inc 5 year warranty) hotukdeals.com/ite…988 and the £400 40" sony also at RS hotukdeals.com/ite…853

What do you think?

Very well explained - thx

I really fancy this but can't make up my mind whether to go for it over the LG at Argos which i've been deliberating over for a few days. The freesat is just swinging it over the five year warranty at the moment. What else should I be considering when trying to compare?

The £100 is deducted via a "DOTD Promotion" So it seems to me like it may well only be for today.

As they are showing the original £499 price as an offer on their site, I'd imagine it'll be a one day offer.

You could always phone and confirm?

nice!!!

Ordered, the panasonic quintrix has had its day.

No one else concerned about the reviews on the M&S site about poor sound / vibration?

Inbuilt tv sound tv is always tinny, maybe the default setting try to compensate for this with increased bass which causes the increased vibrations? So you could try reducing the bass, when setting this up.

Other reviews of this model have not picked up on this, best to get a separate sound system if you want better quality sound anyhow, and the pro's that reviewed this television probably never used the inbuilt speakers anyway, which could be a reason why this is not mentioned in what hifi and tv review.
