Hardly, "Oakham" chicken is just marketing, they're not free range or anything. They'll be the same as any other supermarket chicken

Still a great price though.

Canter down the meat aisle, rear up on 2 legs, you'll spot them then.

Don't forget to let out a little whinnie before coming down again.

good timing, wondering what to have for tea. Just picked up meatload and 2 veg

No pud either, think the £10 deal is better value.

£10 deal is better but only if you want the wine and pud. My wine rack's already full of M&S wine and I'm not supposed to eat puddings, so this gets heat from me. Must wander across and get one (it's dangerous living 100 yards from an M&S food shop),

I added heat but they are small! It's better to buy a bag of roast veg that comes with potatoes, carrots, swede, parsnip and onions...can't remember if anything else comes with it (you need to prepare it by the way) and cost less than £1.50 and two chicken breasts for around £3-£3.50! Most people have other greens at home which you can add to it!

I would say this is marketing very close to misleading. The branding gives the false impression that it is better than it really is. With regarding to this branding of "Oakham", and indeed the same technique is used to max out profit for any product line like fashion, initially the Oakham chicken did taste better when first introduced and was more succulent. Once the brand name was established the chicken taste declined gradually to the extent that it is now nothing more special than a standard chicken any where but continues to fetch a premium price. I would not pay extra for an Oakham chicken, pure branding with charisma but with no substance in better taste. (My taste test was based on plain boil the chicken in plain water with no favouring added.) Likewise any brand in M&S or any where else, e.g. Loch..something, is pure exploitation of the image of Loch in people's mind. Any genuine producer of quality food (suggested by the branding) will be unable to produce the volumes demanded by the supermarkets.

Meatload?! ahaha.

I agree think the £10 one is good as you get wine and a pud but this is a good idea as I am not always that fussed about the pudding and the wine doesn't get drank(still good for future use though!) also I can only just about scrape a fiver together for this one after Xmas haha. So thanks OP.

They were investigated for it, but what they're doing isn't against the law. Having a little picture of a farm does go along way doesn't it! Interesting how we're effected by little things like this without even really knowing it.

Can someone explain how this is a hot deal? You can buy a chicken and some veg cheaper separately

The Turkey is awesome. Roast it for 50 at 160 ish and stand for good ten mins. Tender as you like!

nosbod

No pud either, think the £10 deal is better value.

No where near. The turkey alone is £5.99 which we buy for our roast so this is plus roast potatoes and another veg. Top Value

Is it dine in the restaurant or bring back home to cook?
