£89.98 on amazon

Yeah when I posted this it seemed to be the only site now it’s been price matched everywhere haha
Got me excited as triggered my alert - been this price for days at numerous places. It’s Black Friday so need better than this !
I can't decide whether to go for something like this instead of spending 3 times as much on an ASUS X570 Prime Pro board. Not buying for gaming, only a Hackintosh build. Will it work ok with a Ryzen 5 3600x?

Unless your going for pciex 4 or dual graphics the wise words say b450 is all you need
And no probs with 3600x - works out of the box ...

I though that might be the case. Was looking at an X470 board as a half way house, but thought it spending half between this and the X570 Prime Pro, the cheaper Asus X570 was a better option. Been out of PC building for over a decade!
My research said no - can bang a 3950x on this in a year if they drop in price and they’re a beast
Was in my basket for £82.99 but I ummed and ahhed two days and it went back up to this.
Not buying until it comes down again

I was wondering this.. I don't need the crazy ssd speeds but if the next graphics cards are all PCIE 4 will not having it be a negative?
bit dissapointed so far - my pc build hasnt budged an inch accross all my components. Got an apple watch but deals there are thin on the ground.

poor BF up to press.

Was hoping it would drop close to £80. Hoping some other components will dropin price aswell, looking for a graphics card, psu, ram and a ryzen 3600. Hoping to save £10 at leat on most components

Everyone seems to be building a similar build atm. Has been some good deals so far. I've saved £150ish so far on case, mouse, keyboard, SSD, monitor.

I would only go for a X570 if I was planning on a 12 core plus part, The 3600x is a 6 core low power draw a b450 is fine for this, also a 3600 is far better value

I'd put a 3600 in my basket at Scan, then saw only a £15 difference relative to the 3600x, so changed it.
Would the ASUS AMD Ryzen PRIME B450 PLUS be a better overall choice for a fiver more as it has the NVMe boot for my Samsung 970 EVO 1Tb SSD? Have external Synology drives, so probably don't necessarily need to the use onboard RAID as with my last build 12 years ago. Saved my bacon that time though when the Windows drive went South!

Ryzen 3600, b450 Tomahawk Max, 3000-3600 Ram etc basically a 1080p 144hz build.

Ehm... You can boot from any hard drive?

Yes, but I've got the NVMe SSD, so makes sense to have the fastest boot drive I've got in use.

Im sticking with a Sapphire RX590 as building a Hackinstosh. NZXT H710 case. 2 years interest free via Scan hopefully. Got an Apple Watch, and new iPhone to order, so less painful spending wise.

i mean i did not research anything specific, but it's a drive. If you can boot from USB, why not nvme? Isn't that kinda the point of having them?

Just looked on Google. MSI themselves on the product page make no mention of NVMe booting, and a few Reddit entries mention the same issue. I’d like NVMe booting for the speed really. Not that I’ll probably notice in the end!

The MSI boards are far superior to any of the other brands for the B450 chipset. The Tomahawk Max is second only to the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon in terms of recommendation. I picked a Pro Carbon up because I wanted Bluetooth onboard, and the Intel network controllers. Apparently it also has better audio too.

mate, if your windows are on the nvme, how else would it boot?

Building a Hackintosh. Just wanted to see NVMe mentioned as otherwise I’d just stick my Crucial M2 on the MSI board.
