For £1000+ for a laptop what would you say is the minimum graphics card i should be looking for. Interested in buying a well spec'd laptop for around about this price point

why do you insist on spending £1000+?

you can get a GTX1060 laptop with either a quad core i5 or i7 for less than £900.

for 1080p, a 1060 will be fine for a few years at high/max details

Please show me this 1060 laptop with an i7 for less than £900

We do see 1060 deals every now and then for £900 or so but to be fair this isn't a bad price.

The cpu is very good on this but the gpu is only 3gb and will be the bottleneck.

A better compromise might be an i5HQ which can be found a bit cheaper, e.g. This ebuyer.com/757…25t

However I would personally wait as a decent 1060 deal does pop up every now and then.

My thoughts exactly. It was a clearance item. They sold out within an hour or two.

Lol.... it is possible. But generally it’s not. This deal isn’t too bad. I wouldn’t say it’s great... but it’s not bad. I’m looking for something like this myself. But it’s not enough to make me jump on it. The Alienware was.... I missed out though. For some reason I want a Dell or an Asus.

you can easily get a laptop with an i5-6300HQ which is within 5% of the i7-6700HQ for less than £900, as I stated. also with the full 6GB 1060 rather than this cut down 3GB version.

based on this, this deal is poor

That 5% that you’re banding around only relates to gaming. In terms of raw power I believe the i7 is head and shoulders above. I may stand corrected....?
So if you’re looking for something that requires more power, for CPU intensive stuff, the i7 would outperform the i5 all day long.

But hey.... I don’t pretend to be very teccy. It’s just what I’ve learnt from doing my research while looking for my next laptop.

Based on that..... not a bad deal :-)
