msi b450 carbon is the best b450 motherboard on the market, i personally would avoid a gigabyte motherboard
msi b450 tomahawk is a good MB as well

Hmmm X470/X570

X570? waste of money, masi b450 carbon is much better then all of the budget x470 up to £180
Just received the B450 Tomahawk ordered yesterday for £89.99 from Rainforest.

It's going back, as this includes a Wi-Fi adapter and better audio.
rover.ebay.com/rov…901

This one is an x470 for pretty much the same as the 450 carbon

Apparently the VRM heatsink on the X470 isn't all that great. Only recommended if you have one of the "X" chips and want to use Precision Boost Enhancement.
This b450 or x470 gaming pro carbon? not looking at the price.

offset had been added to msi b450 so they work as good on PBO as x470's. Carbon has better heatsink, better audio and WiFi
plus flashback option so you will not need a CPU to update to new bios. x470 plus has just a clear cmos button
Cheers, was looking to buy one of these soon, so pulled the pin early, thanks 😁
Will this work well with the unreleased 3rd gen Ryzen 7's?

Noone knows yet. I hold back until independent reviews.

still waiting for my happymeal

I've only just had a bath bloody hell!
Tough call - this is a great MB but we don't know how well the B450 will cope with Zen 2 and memory frequency. We've only seen one sneak geekbench result of the MSI X470 gaming plus that reached 3733Mhz RAM speed but nothing else yet. Perhaps the 450 chipset will clock as well or it may not improve over Zen+, decisions decisions

* This board also supports cpu core voltage offset mode now.

Already had my eye on this board for Ryzen 3700x system so taking a bit of a plunge it all works out. Either way it should reach the stock freq. of the chip and hopefully higher than 3200mhz memory freq. Either way its a great price for this board. Only 8 left from this retailer.
Oof, it's decision time. This one, or the B450 Tomahawk for £77.05:

The Carbon Pro has the ALC1220 codec which should be better than the ALC892 on the Tomahawk so for me it's worth a little extra (even though I have an Aune X1S DAC) plus Buildzoid liked this board for it's VRM heatsink. It also ticked the number of USB ports and fan headers box.
Juat bought this for Ryzen 3000, been looking at this board for a while. Good VRM’s and one of the few boards that supports bios updating without a CPU.
Forgot to say - Thanks OP!

Didn't pay much attention to the 20% off 109 retailers ebay promotion this morning so I'm glad you posted this

Pro Carbon has the same 4+2 phase VRMs as Tomahawk but double the components. Also has a few extra goodies (Intel Wireless & LAN, Bluetooth 5, better audio, BIOS flashback). The heatsink is also quite large; probably larger than the heatsink on Tomahawk. I would say the price difference for the carbon is worth it, but its up to you.

Thanks both. I'll go ahead and get this one. Perfect timing as I'm doing a new build for the Zen 2 release (3600).

And thanks OP. I actually searched the various components I'm looking at (here's a generic link to search for anything across all the valid sellers: ebay.co.uk/sch…058) and somehow forgot to search for Mobos.

I feel dasBOT’s pain, having also paid £105 for this board a week ago. Minus, of course, cash back from TCB. It seems though that it is one of the very best B450’s. It’s also a looker. No buyer’s remorse for me. If you can get this for £98, then good luck to you.
Code doesn't work for me?

I think most people looking to pickup a bargain mobo are probably looking at a Zen+ CPU for more bang for the buck.

But point well made. I wonder if AMD will have spare Zen/Zen+ CPU's for people to update BIOS's like they did previously.
What's the difference between the B MBs and the X MBx?

Would you experts say this tier list is still valid?

Tempted to grab this for my 1600x.

The Gigabyte Gaming 3 seems to be a bit meh
