Pretty cheap for an okay card, I own the card and it does it's job but there are better ones out there.

Aboot bloody time too, much longer and this half built rig will be rusting waiting for a decent card

Not really a crazy price, this is roughly RRP
Not a good sign when the person posting it doesn't sound convinced!

How low could it potentially go though? Wasn't it £320-350 pre-mining frenzy?

Also Amazon’s Easter deals are tommorow so you might get a better card for around the same price

this is a good price, the only real issues with this card may be the cooler. Not the most robust and effective but will do the job.

Next generation Nvidia cards might not even go into production until Q3 2018
Its a good card, there are better but at higher prices. I own 1 of these, my 1st 1070, bought it from ebuyer early last year for £295, does the job, cooler is above average, if you have a decent case temps will stay under load around 55-62*c.
New Nvidia cards are just about to be released
It's the Game Developers Conference next week. We'll likely hear a bit more about the next gen geforce gpus will offer
wait till may/june when the 1170/2070 comes out for the same price but will be like 70 percent better

They won't be out by then and even if they make it out this year stock is likely to be very very short.

Q3 2018 release due to memory shortage apparently.
Not gonna say time machine but mine cost £290 in may last year from ebuyer... It's a shocking price jump so this one you have linked is worth it considering its over 400 elsewhere

why not the last cards came out around that time and by then it will have been 2 years how long will they wait to actually release them
Everyone is selling their stock, new 2070 and 2080 coming out next two weeks I reckon
Now out of stock.

I paid £300 for a 1070 over 18 months ago. Will drop more soon

Sold out already no doubt to the 3rd party seller "Box Limited" who are selling at £689.54 on Games site and Amazon re-sellers where selling for £600+

im going by the logic that the 1170 will be as capable as the 1080 ti if not more just like how the 1070 was just as capable as the 980ti

Stock of current gen cards is already less than demand. 1060s 1070s 1080s are all low on stock everywhere and selling for inflated prices. What makes you think there is going to be enough stock of the next gen cards to meet demand?

Because from what I read current gen gpu’s are not in production, it’s full speed ahead with next gen. This is helping cause the lack of stock of current gen.

Perhaps , but your comparison isn’t really fair , the 1180 is likely going to have a price of about £550 especially the founders edition . Even the 1070 was £420 - £450 ar release (I know as I bought one for £460) . Last generation was also a massive jump as it was a die shrink and whole new architecture which I doubt this new card will be. Like for like (1070 vs 1170) I would say you’d be looking at 20% increase at most and it would likely cost you £50 more than this card .

It isn't just mining prices keeping them high. As soon as the craze is over, all the gamers will be after them, so demand will still be high. That, and production prices are still high.

Rumors are saying announcement is going to happen sometime this month or next and sales of non-consumer volta cards in pre-built has already started. Announcements time obviously do not give much indication of release time but I still think £370 is too much for a card that will be out done for hopefully near the same price in 6 months
LukeyWolf1 h, 42 m ago

Not really a crazy price, this is roughly RRP

It kinda is for a card of quality £370 is alot for a card with that cooler and no back, I would again either wait for the card prices to be less "not really crazy" or again for Volta
Such a bad time to buy anything right now, it looks like lots of PC manufacturers are cashing in on this bitcoin craze. RAM prices are though the roof, GFX prices re crazy and paying £300 gets me about a 10% increase over my current i7.

My only worry is that with no competition why would AMD or Nvidia even want to release a new card, they cant make enough old hardware at insane prices, why bother making less profit with new stuff? I don't expect anything until Q4 2018.

Fingers crossed it all crashes and I can finally upgrade at a decent price.

Buy this as quick as possible, as today’s prices go it’s a steal.
Oos
This Is Very Good actually 180 quid less than I spent on my 1080 a month ago
plewis002 h, 18 m ago

What possible reason would Nvidia have to release a card that’s 70% better …What possible reason would Nvidia have to release a card that’s 70% better when AMD isn’t even competing at the top-end? It will be 10-20% quicker with lower power comsumption is much more reasonable and likely!OOS anyway for this 1070, good price given the market. Yes, crypto is falling but I’ve heard all too often it’s ‘gonna die’ and it doesn’t - they said that in December 2017 and then weeks later GPUs were out of stock again.

if the 1170 is only 20% better than the 1070 then it would be worse than a 1080 and would give a huge lead for the the 1180 unless you expect the 1180 to be less powerfull than the 1080ti

It's going to be in that ballpark. There is no benefit whatsoever to nVidia releasing a card that's anywhere near 70% faster, even if they could - great for gamers perhaps, rubbish for them. Think about it, if they release a card that much quicker, it will be more than adequate for current games and therefore probably also fine for 3-5 years or more after that so you won't upgrade. Also, generation to generation, the new cards don't suddenly all exceed the old ones.

They've already discussed this anyway, they have Titan V, it's so powerful they're talking of releasing a different architecture (Ampere instead of Volta) for consumers so it's not going to be crazy quicker - like I said 20% maybe and some power savings.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. These cards also had a strange launch cadence/cycle with many coming out to coincide with AMD cards. Also the metric for 'faster' depends on many things and any architectural changes, like the shader configurations.
It's pre-owned if you realised
