That kind of comes with the territory though. 9750H, 2060, 120Hz display are pretty power hungry.

Like OP I find the 256GB SSD more disappointing. It's not really a gaming laptop if you can't take your games with you!

The problem here is that if you buy the laptop with vouchers you are not fully covered with a credit card. If your laptop breaks down one day out of warranty Currys won't help you. If you pay on credit card you could always quote the 1979 sales of goods act and let your credit card company deal with it.

I’ve made a couple of big purchases from Curry’s saving 8% through work on instant vouchers recently. For the reason you mentioned I made sure I got a voucher that covered all but a few pounds, which I put on my credit card. You get the same protection even if only a fraction of the cost is put on your credit card.

Hooray purchased, they were supposed to be £999 anyway as nvidia announced i7 and gtx2060 laptops for £999/$999.
Shame its only a 256gb SSD & 8gb Ram too

Yeah I think £999 is it's normal price, I looked at some YouTube reviews and it did mention that price too.

This cpu for gaming is on par with a 9300h and about 15% faster then a 1660ti.

But this is a 6 core so will be good and more future proof.

I really want to see a 4800h with a 1660ti or a gtx 2060 performance and battery life.
Another 8GB DDR4 SODIMM is like £30ish quid and 1TB 2.5" SSDs can be had for under £100 these days assuming the one that comes with it is an NVMe drive and there is a spare SATA port on the mobo like there is with almost all laptops of this type.

I had the GS75 and 4 hours on chrome was generous not to mention the vast performance drop when the power wasn't connected.

If that's your concern you can get a Dell G5 5590 with a 90whr battery - does more like 7 hours (I have one myself). Makes it pretty dense though
Just ordered the nitro 7 (512ssd m.2 1660ti, i7, £999) yesterday. Is it worth returning for this?

Yes, should do, the 2060 supports HDMI2.0 which allows 144Hz up to 1440p. Not sure if you'd get gsync compatibility though, I imagine not. Also it's quite difficult to tell the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz.

Edit: to be clear you'd need a monitor that supported 144Hz over HDMI, rather than displayport

If you don't need the compactness and/or portability of a laptop then a desktop will always be better value for money. Easier to upgrade too, if you buy the right one

It doesn't have space for 2.5" SSD.

It's a i7 9750h. Currys are useless

Great deal OP, add a cheap extra stick of 8gb ram and whatever sized m.2 for game storage and you've got a decent laptop here
Amazing! I’m buying

Very smart.
Purchased it this afternoon seen as they had reduced the price only for my order to immediately change from confirmed to on hold. Asked on live chat what was going on and I was told they don't actually have any stock and they weren't sure when it would be back in stock... Still showing as available on the website though!

I'm not sure why anyone would look at Intel when Ryzen 4000 series is out... Watch some reviews. Battery lasts significantly longer than in Intel
People saying 30£more for another ram and blah blah 30more for hdd then why is it 1000£? Not even 144hz, 15.6" and then you want me to spend another 60-100 for upgrades? Hell nah

Unfortunately due to rising prices across the board, you still couldn't get another laptop for the same price after the upgrades are taken into account.
iam looking for gaming laptop upgrade my old i3 dell desktop but then again better getting Ryzen cpu laptops anyone knows any good deals?

This isn’t a ASUS TUF series, this is an MSI they are decent and with an i7 9750 and a RTX2060 at a grand it’s a fair deal.

If it had 16gb ram then it’d be £100 more, when users can easily source the extra ram themselves for cheaper so it’s actually better this way.

Battery life is kinda irrelevant in a gaming laptop as you will have to be plugged in to game. I do agree the Ryzen 4000 series are great, but find one that puts out more frames than this with a budget of £1000

Is this compatible with dual channel ram if you were to swap out the 8GB for a matched pair or is it soldered to the board?

MSI website lists it as a 4k 30Hz port but ive seen user reviews saying 4k 60hz works. Not received mine yet, should be here Monday so I can test it then.

According to the few reviews available, theres one 8Gb stick with a slot free so could add another 8gb or swap for matching pair for dual channel
