it's a £600 laptop with a 7th gen i5 and a 960.

1080p is what 96%+ of people are using so what's your issue with it? its also IPS so best technology you can get at this sort of price.

8GB RAM is more than enough for at least the next few years.

the fact other configs of this same laptop come with an SSD+HDD i would presume there is another slot (perhaps M.2) for you to add an SSD.

From what I read, i think the HDD isn't very good being 5400rpm but then personally I would wack an SSD in it anyway. Would have though most people would be doing that these days, I can't imagine going back to HDD lol (it's for the wife so comes down to a graphics card or an SSD lol)

Looks like there is a spare slot for an M.2 NVMe drive. Good deal if you ask me. Love my MSI laptop.
Just FYI, MSI's customer service is shocking. I'm in the middle of getting a GT72 traded in because of their poor advertising and disgusting attitude towards their customers.

I second that the MSi Customer service is shocking. MSI GP72 6QF Leopard Pro last August and it had a fault by Christmas. Took forever to get sorted and took nearly 4 weeks to return. FInally had it back in time for easter but by that point I decided to sell up and invest in a Desktop. Kind of put me off the MSI brand
FYI Amazon have the same laptop with a 128gb SSD for £50 more Link

Does this have a second bay for an SSD?

That sounds way better

I got a laptop with a GTX 1060 from argos last year for £850 (after cashback) you should really consider spending the extra pounds just for the the 1060, it really is substantially ahead of the 960

Again, rant wont help. Laptops are not a option for gaming unless you have money and you just want to throw at it.

Who's ranting?
Lots of people do laptop gaming. Ergo, Laptops are an option.
Really decent spec in terms of value for money. Add a SSD and it'll do very nicely, thank-you-very-much!

Incidentally, I enjoy laptop gaming and this is more than capable and therefore pretty future proof, for my needs.

Thanks OP

True, never seen anyone play a game on a laptop. 1080ti is a minimum requirement with Titan XP being the recommended.

Plus an i5? I am surprised that can even load windows. You really need hyperthreading for optimal notepad launch speed.

So True ... I have given up on MSI simply for their poor after sales support!
My experience with their after sales support is so poor. The moment they get know it is not about new sales that is it !!!

Try giving a call to their after sales support ... New customer calls are answered very quick but if it is for support then it is all about luck... been on the phone for so many hours wanting somebody to answer !

ie, the manufacturer i was referring to not the seller ...

I've had two warranty issues and both were dealt with promptly and professionally. so it's not all bad news.

This argument ceased to have any value about 5 years ago, been gaming on laptops for quite some time, at home it sits in a dock connected to 25" inch display, but at 2kg it's easy to take it everywhere I go.

You're just showing your ignorance and your inability to see things from other peoples perspective who want to do PC gaming but are on the move a lot. No one is saying buy this instead of a desktop rig if you just want to park it on your desk and never move it.

For someone that works away regularly - Gaming laptops make perfect sense.

I have an i7 6700k & GTX 980Ti tower for when im at home,
and an i7 7700k & GTX 1050Ti Laptop for when im working away

Laptop plays most things just fine at near top levels.

Its more than likely I was just unlucky but just like anything else, if you had a bad or frustrating experience, you kind of dont want to use that brand anymore.

For what this Laptop is, Pop in an SSD and get that up to 16GB and its a decent portable gaming laptop. Same spec as I had and could do BF1 and Medium settings

How many gamers do you know that use a 15" 1080p screen and only 8gb of ram - proper gamers would laugh at you if you told them that's what you had. To be more future proof you need 4k or at least a better resolution than 1080p

I suggest you take a look at this:

store.steampowered.com/hws…ey/

like i said, ~96% of gamers use 1080p (or less - admittedly something i omitted previously but still proves my point)
