I'm an amateur at gaming laptops ,but unless I'm missing something there is no deal here Is the 2060 worth an extra £600 over a 1060 ?

#nightmareformatting - got there in the end
Amazon seem to have made an error, as this model number GL63 8SE-093UK should have 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD.
I’ve only started looking into gaming laptops but why are they always low storage like 128gb? Is it expected for you to replace it or something?

As I understand it you only need the SSD for speeding up access to stuff . All the actual data required is stored on the hard drive so no need for the speed of access . Please correct me if I'm wrong - I'm learning too .
Hm, there's another Very link Google takes me to that is in stock very.co.uk/msi…prd
and it's the same price (albeit £1299.99) - the other OOS link has £100 cashback though (not really worth it if you take it back on credit).38469101-aa9vD.jpg

If there’s a 1060, 8750, 16Gb FHD for £699, I’d be genuinely interested to know where - it’s pretty much the specs I’m after and I don’t think I’ve seen anything around that price (new at least)?

Stuff on the ssd will be quick to access, stuff on the hdd - not so much! You could use the hdd for movies/music etc but you’d want your games and os on the ssd.

SSDs are hard drives. They have masively faster access by a factor of 10 and gererally faster data speeds also. This makes loading / saving / swap files much quicker.

I added the Notebookcheck link in the Deal post (didn't read it for a while, though). It's weird because there's lots of positive Amazon reviews.
No Thunderbolt in expensive laptop

A few (currently out of stock TBF- just checked ) that have appeared over the last couple of weeks . I'm actually after a 17 inch and (as a non gamer ) not overly bothered about anything above a 1050 ti . 8750 ? is that the processor . As I said an amateur and a brand new 15.6" - 1050 (£500 -£550) ,a 1050ti (£590-£640 ) , a 1060 (£699-£750) seem to be the best deals around .. Maybe someone could tell me if I'm in the right ballpark ? Obviously add an extra £50 for 17" (and less choice /options ) . Processor and size of ssd obviously also make a difference in price .

There was this one for £719 a couple of weeks ago, I think that's what they were referring to: hotukdeals.com/dea…729

I think Notebookcheck are quite right to damn the laptop version of the RTX 2060. Take a squint at this YouTube video from around the 18:05 mark. There's virtually no difference between the 2060 & the (way, way cheaper!) 1660 ti....

Ahh yes, I did see that but at the time I looked I think the conclusion was that it had a 60hz tn screen (later I believe it was confirmed as a 120hz tn)...

That's good to know - can you tell I don't know much about laptops and their going price? I tried searching for MSI laptops of similar spec to do price comparison but didn't come up with the one m3racer123 mentioned.

This is my laptop (a weird small M.2 SSD/SSHD setup and I found it almost impossible to change the drives to just one M.2) - a much humbler arrangement! Thank god for Amazon Warehouse.38471946-2UKhA.jpg
