Yeah I noticed this after I went with OCUK. Can get free delivery with scan if you post on the Hexus forums.

If somebody wants to buy me one of these then I won't complain.

excellent spec.. if you dont mind the bulk..

How does something like this compared with an Alienware M15x?

Spec-wise, it is a lot better. Build quality-wise, it is a lot worse.

Not bad - It's showing out-of-stock now.

Worth noting it's not perfect (is there such a thing as a perfect laptop?) - only 32bit windows, the screen isn't full HD and gets some dodgy reviews, some unhappy comments on the keyboard too, and apparently it doesn't come with blu-ray playback software (according to c-net review).

The Core i7 620M (arrandale chipset) is a far better choice of processor, cooler, less power hungry and actually outperforms the 720QM (Clarksfield chipset) in many of the benchmark tests, only falling behind on tests specifically geared towards hyperthreading.
I wouldn't touch a Clarksfield chip for a laptop, saying that I paid a hefty premium for my 620M back in January when it was released.

spec tends to equal bulk unless you like burning banknotes

Being 32-bit is a plus point for me. Most of my software is around three years old and around 15% would install on the new DT I bought (HP touchscreen) which has a 64-bit Vista and of the 15% around 10% would run. A complete nightmare as I cannot get 32-bit drivers as HP don't have them (their tech dept say as it is shipped with 64-bit that's the only drivers they have). Trying to work out the hardware is a pain as the Bluetooth, WLAN, webcam, keyboard (special hotkeys for the monitor) are just named as HP x from device manager and the video card refuses to work with the correct Nvidea driver.

So I'm tempted by this myself since all the other laptops with good spec I've looked at come with flamming 64-bit!

Paid 750 for a dell about 6 months ago with 2 years onsite warranty, similiar spec but 2 years warranty does it for me with 64bit window ofcourse.

worth looking around for those discount codes.

Which model and how much off did you get with the code please?

phwoaaar

needs a better graphics card imo, not really any better than radeon 5650 which can be found on machines alot cheaper. (from 530quid with i3)
its overall well specced and all..probably even well priced but doesn't really say wow to me.
for a proper drool factor they need to be alot better/different to (sane person) mainstream laptops.
edit: gx660 is more like it well worth the cost for upgrade in spec

laptops arent for gaming, just dont need a high end card for anything else technology wise. Certainly not if you used this for work either.

yes the graphics card is crap matches 8800gt and around £20 but seriously the only practical use are lan partys or if you don't have space at home like 2nd computer

Studio 15 i7-720. I found the code on this site, for 70 (there about) and dell doing a 200 (increase the price, bigger discount) promotions.

crap is a bit of an overstatement - i assume you mean the gts and can you point me in direction of a 2nd hand £20 8800gts graphics card for laptop please?
unless you are ralking about desktops in which case is all irrelevant anyway.

Um, suprised no one has pointed out that the 799 price is excluding VAT.

actual price for this is £939.99. Big difference!
