They are so darn close to X570 and they seem to think everyone wants all the bells and whistles. I expect they are also leveraging the definite 4000 series support as B450 will be down to the vendors to provide special BIOS’s for 4000 series. This is a better board than the B450 Tomahawk Max but it’s not worth the current 30-40% price hike.

me too, please!
I bought the B550M Mortar for a similar price - more for the smaller size than the slightly greater features on the Tomahawk.

Cheapest x570 I can find right now is this

amazon.co.uk/Asr…5V7

Which will have pcie 4.0 and an ok VRM, sure, but look at the back ports. 1G lan instead of 2.5G. No USB C. All the USB ports are 3.1, no 3.2. Good to see an ALC 1200 on it but the MAG has spdif and more ports. No BIOS flashback.

No inbuilt Wifi but you can add an M.2 wifi to expand.

The MAG has 4 USB 3.2 with one of them being type C. It has 2 network connections with one 1G and one 2.5G. 2 video outs in HDMI and DP. The same ALC1200 but with more connections.

For a gaming machine you'd choose the 570. For a workstation you'd probably choose the 550. For an APU you'd go 550. Networking? 550. Pcie expansion? 570 for chipset 4.0.

Personally I'd pay the extra for BIOS flashback and the extra display out as my last one had to return as I couldn't display anything. Not sure if the board died or just the HDMI.

I think they were referring to the price of the board in the deal.

Yes. Both prices listed are with the revised VAT price
Good price tbh. Let’s be real though the reason the B550 line is more expensive is because it’s pretty much an X570 without the pci4 chipset link which 90% of people won’t be taking advantage of. There’s no comparing the vrms/power delivery/quality to the b450 line, it’s just so much better. This boards vrm is about 83% of the X570 tomahawk at around £50 cheaper, and the temps are about the same if not better in some cases on the B550.

are they overkill? 100%. Unless your putting a 3950x and overclocking it’s all overkill, a good b450 will be fine for anything else at a lower price.

At the same time you just gota think about these as an x550, you get what you need with one pcie4 gfx slot and one pcie4 nvme slot. This is without the chipset fan and a added pcie4 slots you will likely never use, all at a reduced price.

I picked x570 Tomahawk, not B550 version as it had wifi & Bluetooth. (Ccl pre-order for £210 arrived 10 days ago) Worth the extra cost difference. Bought sx8200 m.2 & 3800x.

Absolute Nonsense, unless its a well known motherboard due to its overheating problems. Also many GN & HWUB have also said that the B550 are actually better especially in this price range.
Nice deal OP.
