Good board using one right now. Managed to get my 3600 to 4.3ghz but was toasty but runs 4.2 all cores easily with no issues
Looks solid value with the cooler. VRM is low end for X570 bit given Ryzen doesn't overclock well at all it's more than adequate.

Apart from the VRM and 2 M2 slots being a bit stingy this doesn't look like a huge compromise.
Would it be worth buyting this board and a 2nd gen Ryzen with a view to upgrade later?

If you needed the cooler it's not a bad deal. I'd be tempted to pick up an £80 B450 and Ryzen 2 for now and see what B550 is like later.

can i ask if the fan is loud? is it on 24/7? can you change the fan speed?
Cant hear the fan over my water pump and it only seems to spin occasionally. Right now it's not spinning even though Windows is using my NVME drive.
200 quid for a motherboard good lord that's dear. As others have said youd be much wiser buying a 2600 and B450 board combined for less money than this!
I'd still go for a B450 and 3600 value combo until we see the B550

This is one of the cheaper X570 boards

X570 aren't bad boards at this price, solid VRMs, PCI-E4, multiple M2 slots. Depends if you want a board that will last a CPU upgrade or two.

A value build of a 3600 and a B450 Tomahawk is great but if you want it to last a few more years the extra for a X570 isn't bad if buying around the £200 mark, especially with the cooler thrown in.

Will X570 support more cpus that B450 though? Since they're both AM4 I'd assume not?

I think B45p will support ryzen 4600 etc but then after that it will be AM4+ or AM5?

I'm not sure there's anything specific but B450 VRMs are pretty well pushed with the 3900X, the 3950X will be a big ask.

There's one more generation planned on AM4, I'd guess B450 won't be upto the task of the higher core count CPUs.

Is this ATX?
I agreed if you want higher cores later go for the X range. I’ve got a hero vi X370 and that will comfortably support the 3900x
Any good deals on itx board even if B450.

They're not claiming it's exclusive to them. They're saying that the deal is only valid through them if you buy from their site directly. They also sell on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace, but you won't get the deal if you buy from CCL via one of those places.

x590 is coming soon
That's an aggressive looking motherboard.
Look at the tdp package of the ryzen chip you intend to buy and then get the right mobo

It's a fair choice to make, but personally I decided on the B450. I figured if you wanted to upgrade in a few years down the track, you'd probably do it when ddr5 is out, am5 is the new platform, and when graphics cards make use out of pcie gen 4, we'll be on a higher gen anyway. Plus there's still some upgradeability to be had.
Will AMD be releasing new CPUs this time next year?

They have got a refresh planned next year.

Even though they might not actually call it AM5, they probably will. Also i can see the socket getting slightly larger. I doubt we will be going to pcie 5 untill at least 2022 or 2023.

Yes they do. Its the 2021 release that will be interesting, because with the chiplet design, they can do multiple io chips and keep am4 compatibility.

How does the vrm compare to b450 carbon or x470 ultra gaming? Guess it's better than those? Or b450 and x470 in general.

With the free cooler and $25 steam credit for leaving a review of the board this seems a reasonable price more in line with mid/high and x470 boards. Been waiting weeks for b450 and x470 deals but apart from b450 carbon deal which I missed today there hasn't been much at all

Thanks for the link. Thought they'd have improved the vrm on all x570 boards with the premium they're charging and with all the talk of whether b450/x470s are good enough for 3900x. Got the 2600 for £100 few week ago so think this would be too much as it wont be as future proof as thought in terms of vrm if upgrade in year or two
