With a 2GB MX150, it's a stretch to call that a gaming laptop.
It’s a nice laptop. I own one. Gaming performance is decent and it will comfortably play esports titles at 60fps in medium settings. Tested Overwatch, Dota, Hots, LOL etc. It plays fallout4 on medium at 40-50fps so ok for more demanding titles to a degree.

Cooling is good. Screen is pretty good for this price. Nothing to complain about.

I would call call it a gaming laptop.......it gives better performance than an Xbox one on most titles.

I'm sorry but you are just straight up wrong, stop pulling stuff from your head please thanks. This can run csgo at over 100fps even on HIGH settings... Overwatch plays over 60 too . Where did you hear it would struggle? The little man in your head that tells you he knows everything?

I would agree, I took the title from eBuyer directly, I think I will change it to *light* gaming laptop
EDIT: Updated the title to something more appropriate.

The GPU is the 10 Series version of the 940MX. The performance jump is quite phenomenal from the 940MX to the MX150.

If so then the Xbox One really is crap.
I would never buy HHD, my experience says SSD is way way better, for optimum performance.

We had slide rules at school so I appreciate speed.

Well yeah, it is.

It has a CPU from 2011 designed for ultraportables and tablets.

Wish it was lighter 14 inch laptop. Waiting for a lightweight mx150 laptop at that price point.
Head added anyway.
Cold, it's got full HD
From what I've read this is up there with the 950m and close to 960m in terms of performance, this is not a tiny upgrade from the 940mx.

Having returned a gaming laptop with a 1060 that struggled with Overwatch and QC (Medion Erazer x7847) and this has far weaker specs.

I do not own CSGO but that is from 2012 so you could be right
Coooooooold.

I would guess your laptop suffered from thermal throttling since the 1060 is more than enough for overwatch. My old gtx670 could play overwatch 60+ fps.

A good gaming laptop requires more than just good specs, unfortunately its very hard to tell intill you actually use it.

You could be right - I didn't look in to it too much, just returned it and bought a better spec desktop for the same money as portability wasn't essential.

The Erazer would sit at 60fps in Overwatch until anything happened (big firefight or something) and slow down to a crawl, then back up to 60fps in the the spawn room after dying was mega frustrating.
Looking for a laptop for movies and heroes of the storm . Will this be enough ?
This runs overwatch at medium / high at full Hd at 60fps. No point arguing with me as I own one.

Im not saying you should buy it or that it’s the greatest gaming device ever made.

But 60fps is fact.
It IS a gaming laptop, GPU snobs calm it down. No its not going to play full HD on ultra but I have 2 of these and they play everything I've tried nicely most stuff works nicely at medium quality.

I spent ages looking for gaming laptops for the kids that were affordable and at the time the nearest 1050 was nearly £200 more which just isn't worth it.

These have both SATA & M2. I opened mine & added an M2 SSD and they now scream along nicely.

Theyre easy enough to open, the bar along the top of the keyboard clips off & allows the base to be removed for easy sata, m2 & RAM access.

Screens are nice with reasonable viewing angles and the processors are sooooo much better than the U series.

Absolute & total utter rubbish mate. I've got it & it doesn't struggle as has been said already it plays games like Witcher fine.

I think our opinion of fine differs. I said to be competitive. 60fps is console standard. You want to be running 100+ FPS at 144hz. 60fps is very sluggish when it comes to eSports when others are running the game on superior hardware.

Would you bring a knife to a gun fight?

I have no doubt this laptop can run those games, being able to run them is not enough when every frame counts. I don't have the best pc in the world but I can easily run these games at 60fps ultra settings but choose to have settings turned down to run at 144fps/144hz locked. Once you've done that you'd struggle to go back, promise.

Edit: knife to a gun fight

I'm not a gamer, but out of interest would a SSD improve the gaming aspect, speed etc?
Thanks
I'd be pretty happy with an MX150 but only in an Ultrabook form factor.

A 950 is more than 2x the speed. It's also got more Mhz
Luckily it's very easy to compare graphics card performance in this day and age.

Here's, a Wikipedia page:

en.wikipedia.org/wik…its

Here you can check the GFLOPS of the GPUs. That's the best comparison parameter for Nvidia GPUS. The higher the better.

The second one is to put the GPU name into a search engine. Check the NotebookCheck article on the GPU in question.

notebookcheck.net/NVI…tml

The page is quite long. Scroll down the page and you would see it's performance on different settings across various PC Games.

Were you joking?

Seems like a Ford Focus v Bugatti Veyron comparison.

Unless by performance you mean electricity consumption wise.

If you mean gaming perfomance, can you list one, any, game?

Fallout 4 struggles to maintain 30fps on Xbox one. It runs at 50+ on this laptop at full Hd.

In Mikiex's defence, the comparison is supposed to be between the MX150 and the GTX 950 'M'.
They are fairly similiar in performance and given the choice I would take the MX150.

It’s about the same as 950m. I’ve used both. Very little difference in FPS. Both are about 40% faster than 940m

Thanks Yes I was quoting about the 940M meant the MX150 is more like a 950M in perfomance than a 940M. I should have been more specific!!... Nvidia is the problem with its stupid naming system!! They have been doing this for years.
Really misleading post.

not perfect for esports

cold.

ok for playing older games on medium
