Best B450 board with quality VRMs and support for the 3950X.

MAX boards are Ryzen 3000 ready, 3700X works a treat right out of the box!

shell? We aren't talking trackies bro. As for mobo sizes - SWTX is the largest size commonly found (in servers sadly). Eatx is the biggest consumer sized mobo.

fab mobo had mine a while, cant fault it
Does this motherboard only fit full size towers? Or will it fit a mid tower?
Thanks. Bought. Glad I held off with the ebay offer.
Anyone recommend a ryzen 3xxx cpu to go with this mb and won't bottleneck a 1080ti please?
Will be using for some 1440p gaming, emulations and video work. Thanks

Check that your case supports ATX motherboards. If its only M-atx then no it won't.

Got the non max version and it's been perfect with my 3700x.

3600/3700x - I went with the latter paired with an RTX 2080. Although I'm pleased I wonder if it would have been sensible to buy an 3600 instead. The 3700x is considerably more expensive and the devaluation could be severe, those savings could be put towards a tactical upgrade in 24-36 months (3900/3950/4xxx).

Answering my own question here ,sending it back to amazon and paying 4 quid delivery charge, while buying again, will save over 13 quid

I have 1080ti and I am going to get this mobo and 3600. I game at 1440p as well. Based on my research 3600 will be more than enough. I have a i5 4670k paired with 1080ti currently and depends on the games even that cpu is not bottleneck the gpu. I am currently play jedi fallen order (multi core aware) and gpu is being maxed. So I think 3600 should be fine.
Same price at Scan if you're also after other components.
Mega price for Ryzen 3000. Decent spec hardware. Good power delivery.

This is the definition of value for money.

Yes, the 3600 is a good pair for 1080ti.

You could be dead in two Years time or you could be using it today.
Devaluation. A £200 - £300 chip, not a £30K Motor !!!

These are parts that I have so far:
Lian Li Dynamic case
AMD 3700x
Corsair 2TB SSD and Samsung 512GB NVMe drives
AMD 590 GFX Card
32GB Memory
Water block for CPU
12 x Compression fittings

Need a Motherboard, fanless psu, radiator and reservoir.
I thought that if I get a 360mm radiator, I could run 3 or even 2 fans at a low speed.

This is a super deal (8gb x2 3600mhz):

If you can afford four ranks (8gb x 4) then even better:

Kinda tempted to upgrade my i7 6700k but from what I have seen I would barely see any difference at 1440p, I will probably wait until next year. I did want an all ryzen build though, got the 5700 xt last week

Thanks very good info...might spare another 60quid debating whether to wait for black friday or not. Another thing will there be bios update for 3600x for this board getting mixed reviews. Cheers

Go on motherboard's page at MSI, and have a look for supported memory kits and which frequencies. Best thing to buy MSI tested memory.

Yes they might be. I also got carbon. Bought it back in July for 125 from overclockers store since I live in Stoke. Should have stated, that you mean the value. I got the carbon due to having 2nd m2 slot in case I want to put one more drive also wifi might come in handy who knows. Paired it with 3700x and crucial ballistix 2x16gb 3200, happily runs at 3600mhz cl14 1.4v.

I do not dispute that Carbon is a good motherboard, but don't you think that £50 is not worth it over Mortar B450M MAX, just for WiFi? Mortar comes with 2x M.2 slots as well.

What is m-atx? Mid (tower), m of the max, m of something else? Are max boards bigger?

Probably not. Mortar is matx which I'm not a fan. It was hard enough moving from full tower to atx. Was considering tomahawk, but at the time it was over 100 too and no second m2, was easy to justify extra 20 for 2 extra features.

Pro Carbon has slightly better MOFSETS/VRMs and comes with 1220A Audio and Intel Gigabit LAN. If your not after features, the Tomahawk or Mortar will serve the same purpose.
