Got one earlier this year (pink). Perfect condition - as new. Advertised as Win 7 starter but arrived with XPH which I took as a bonus! Recommended at this price.

What the F is "XPH" ???

Windows XP Home?

great netbook bought one earlier on from argos/ebay referb but like new with win xp home and the severn hour battery 127 quid cant moan at that guys plus 12 month warranty cant go wrong really

in fact im on it now

Got mine two months ago. It arrived new. Completely new. The box was a little scruffy and battered, but everything else in there was new.

Everything about item in this DEAL

good deal but VERY bad customer service!

bought 1 last month (pink for sisters birthday) & they sent me a dirty & used BLACK netbook in a knackered box! phoned argos ebay who said you have to deal with there repair centre D&J henry. phoned D&J who said they would collect & send me a pink. i asked them to make sure that a pnik was kept for me (still a few left on ebay store) which they said was fine.
1 week after they collected i phoned them to fine that the returned netbook was going through "testing". this took 10 days to realised it was black not pink! they then said they had no stock of pink! complained to argos ebay who said i had to wait for another delivery of stock, which may or may not have pink ones. told them that i was sick of having to chase them up. i wanted them to find me a pink within a week or refund.
they couldnt find a pink but i had to wait nearly 2 weeks for refund as argos had to wait until D&J returned the black one to them!

in the end i managed to get a better spec acer aspire one in brand new condition with 12 months gurantee from dm-clearance on ebay

anyone had good/bad experience with condition of netbooks from these guys, befre I make my mind up?

Be aware that if you upgrade the RAM it invalidates the warranty!

cheers op after I ordered twice with cpw and twice cancellation I got fed up so at least this one will be fulfilled heat added

New condition, as above, here. So good I bought 2.

Great deal, many thanks. Got one for my parents, as this is better than giving them my 10 year old laptop running Lubuntu (windows has some benefits).

is it a bit job to add ram also does it really invaidate warranty?

My dad bought one, was liked brand new. Box never been opened.

Bought 2 on different occasions - pink and black - both great! Good deal

Note, that this is Windows 7 starter edition with only the 3cell battery, unlike the previously mentioned deal which was XP and 6cell battery, which was a better deal in my opinion - I got a black one and it was mint condition. You have to be prepared that there could be problems as its refurbished, but I've never had problems with D&J Henry re returns and refunds. And there is a 12month guarantee, unlike a lot of other refurb outlets.

Be Warned!!

It's great if they send you a new one, but if you get a returned one then it's a gamble as to whether they've refurbished it properly!
I had just over a months worth of to-ing and fro-ing with them because they sent me a damaged Netbook and then tried to make me pay for it claiming that I caused the damage!!! Eventually they backed down and I got a working Netbook but in hindsight I would've preferred to spend an extra £50 or whatever to guarantee getting a brand new one.

I got a samsung with them which has a small brighter patch on the screen, I told them I wanted to send it back. But because I didnt want to wait and also miss out I just ignored their returns and ordered a second one. It took a while to sort out getting my cash back, but they did sort it in the end. The second one I got was perfect.

The fact is you can do this, if the latop is not as advertised. Ok you have to pay out twice the money for a bit, but in the end you should get the money back. You can always escalate the claim with ebay.

I would be worth taking pictures as evidence etc.

At the end of the day you will get what you wanted, just it might be straight away or days later if you have to send it back. I've heard plenty of people complaining but nobody loosing out other than time

I bought this few months ago. It had a warranty seal at the back on one the screws which I had to remove to get to the RAM. I found that the RAM bay was faulty as it wouldn't hold the ram properly. So I called them to get it fixed/replaced/refunded. However as soon as they found out that the warranty seal was removed they wouldn't even talk to me. I tried to explain to the lady over the phone what the problem was but she neither understood nor was she willing to. There was no way of me knowing of the fault without removing the warranty sticker. So be warned only attempt to upgrade RAM on this is you are willing to give up your warranty.

How much better is the N455 to my current N270?

I bought an MSI netbook which I upgraded the RAM on. When the screen went wrong several months later because the warranty invalidation sticker was punctured they invalidated the warranty.
If you do not have to remove screws to open the back and you keep the old Ram to put back in it would probably be OK.

I got one of these from Argos a few months ago. I'm typing on it right now!

It's literally like new. I'd guess that most are returned stock that haven't even been switched on.

Upgrading the RAM is easy enough there's about 8 screws on the back, take them out, remove the back panel and just clip the RAM in. Easy. But as mentioned, one of the screws sits behind a sticker that reads "warranty sticker, void if tampered".

It's worth noting that my model is a u135dx and not a u135. They take different types of RAM. It's probably worth waiting to see which model you get before you purchase RAM.

Hot deal.

It has a 12 month warranty so you have nothing to worry about, if your not happy with the condition of it just send it back. If you have trouble getting your money back just escalate it with eBay. Win win!

You can use ReadyBoost to improve the lack of RAM.

Can anyone confirm whether this has a 3 cell or 6 cell battery?
Some of the Argos reviews state a seven hour battery life which suggests that the 6 cell is installed but if anyone could confirm or deny it I would be grateful.
Thanks.

I was just thinking the same 3 or 6 cell it doesn`t say

I was just thinking the same 3 or 6 cell it doesn`t say

previous threads have said it is a mixed bag. expect a 3 cell.
i ordered a pink 3 cell, got a black 6 cell in a box which said it was a black 6 cell with limited edition pattern top (it wasnt) & a sticker on the box saying it was a pink 3 cell (what i ordered but didnt get)

The windows 7 models, which this model is, come with 3cell battery. The windows XP version has 6cell. If you purchase this one and they send the one advertised you will get a 3cell.

i got one a while back, but the trackpad button was faulty, so had to go back.
i don't think they test them at all, they just reload the operating system.
So if it has been returned by someone because of a hardware fault, then you get landed with a dodgy machine

Sent me wrong colour filthy broken netbook - ordered black sent pink. Psu from a tosh laptop on the dirty box it had an argos customer return label as faulty.

No service hours of phones calls and emails had to get pay pal refund took almost 2 months to get my money back.

40 % of the people on the thread I got mine on were not satisfied.

Put it this way I have neve dealt with a worse company online.
