thanks for this. Reserved 2 in my local store.
Just noticed that the 'was' price of £299.99 was £249.99 a few days ago.
Xmas sorted! heat
Definitely needs 2GB minimum I would say....
Also might want to look at the battery life as it doesn't say and a review says it is a bit short....
But hot for the price.

I thought I saw it at £199 recently. Still a decent reduction.
Just reserved one before they go out of stock, would I notice a difference in performance between this and a Dell Mini 10, mainly on flash games such as on facebook? The Mini 10 barely moves when using flash!

On the Argos webpage where it says additional information;
"Please note item 5087200 has previously been on sale at 179.99"

Added some heat...
I'm no expert but I bought my mum an all in with identical spec to this and it really struggles been told by a few people the processer is dated and 1gb ram is not enough for W7
I bought one of these and it is very poor slow, the trackpad is tiny and the build quality is not the best
I bought one of these at this price about 18 months ago. REALLY poor machine, slow, laggy, video and music jumpy. I'd avoid personally. Sold it on eBay.

loads of these end up as refurbs on Argos ebay , I wonder why
Thanks
getting put of is this any good
Please, please, please do not buy one of these. They are RUBBISH. Like one of the posters above listed, there are 100's of these on Ebay being sold by Argos as refurb's. Why? Because they are bobbins. I would not waste your money on them no matter what the price is. if you have bought one, take it back for a refund and get a decent named brand from anywhere apart from Argos. You are setting yourself up for a life of misery

We bought one for our daughter and it has been a disaster from day one. It is poorly built and will not stand the test of time.
The screen went blank after 7 months, the fan inside makes a hell of a din and the hard drive sounds like it is spinning on broken biscuits.

The after-sales service provided by Argos is a joke also. Replace a faulty item that is still under its warranty? NO, they send it off for repair. REPAIR! the thing wasn't even a year old and the screen broke. They don't replace anything over 3 months old. WTF.
Not only this, but the thing came back in a worse condition then went it was sent off.

Quite simply, I will never purchase an electrical item from Argos ever again. Life's too short to be arguing with the idiots who work there

I also have the Dell Mini 10 and would like to find a cheap alternative. It's such a shame as in principle I absolutely love the thing - the size is great and it boots up quickly. But principally I use it for Skype and even with a memory upgrade it is, often, terrible on it.

I bought the first generation of MSI's netbook Wind U100 way back in 2008, the US version and I haven't had any problem with it, the only things I changed are the cooling fun and the left metal hinge which broke when I dropped it from about 6 feet. Even with the onboard 1GB ram and the CPU overclocked 1.6Ghz to 1.9Ghz, I was able to play FIFA 08 and 09, NBA Live 08 and 09 with no hassle NFS Most Wanted with lags here and there, but very playable after upgrading to 2GB RAM. I am still using it once a while, never had any problem with youtube even if with 10 tabs opened with other IM programmes running.

I haven't tried this version before, therefore I'd recommend the U100 range of the Wind series.... That is if you can get hold of one.

The mini 10 is also fanless so silent.
On the MSI website it says the processor is an intel Atom N450 which is only a single core cpu.

If instore purchase not possible and ordered for home delivery @ £3.95, cashback of about £1.87 from TCB is possible, therefore only around £2 for delivery (with distant selling regulations covering return options).

Bought the MSI U100 Plus with 6 cell batt. from Maplins for £160 HERE over 2 years ago.
Its been a fantastic little netbook, 6 cell batt makes a huge difference.
Upgraded to 2gb ram. Works best with win. xp. also can be hackintoshed.

There are better netbooks to be had now.

I thought this said MSI Wind Up 180 10 Inch Netbook

Arms would get sore after a while
Might become a worthwhile machine for those who enjoy tinkering (but I accept there are associated costs). I had a Wind U135DX, added a further GB RAM (about 7 GBP), an SSD (a lot more but I had a spare) and it can run windows 7 home premium really well and is superb for taking with you on travels. Who needs tablets. I assume (but dont know), that installing a Linux OS (or even XP) would run a lot faster than Windows Starter. The big snag with this model might be the 3 cell battery. Looks like a 6 cell is around 70 GBP which is enough to defeat the purpose.

these were good in around 2008 but the internet and media are a lot more demanding now. i borrowed one of these for a week but it was very frustrating. only worth it if you just want to check email etc, and even then a tablet might be better
Unless your needs are very basic, all netbooks require some TLC and tweaking to get the best out of the limited capabilities offered by the aging hardware. Netbooks were a great idea but the concept was never properly developed. Unfortunately, their time has passed, it's all sexy ultrabooks and tablets. Used to really like my netbook but ended up selling it and now use a Nexus 7 for when i'm travelling/away from home. Good price though if you're in the market for one, so have some heat.
The time for netbooks has nominally passed. Unless the GFX part is improved, the useless CPU and crippled quantity of ram will generally equate to these being poor. The AMD based netbooks are moderatly better today, with ability to have more RAM and often have somewhat improved GFX, a larger screen res and sometimes a better 11.6 inch size.

Even when very cheap - these intel units are harshly compromised..

I have had that one (or the U100) for about 3 years and been well pleased with it. It is so small you can just carry it under your arm or in a bag (or handbag) no probs. It only has XP so batt life not the best but it's been reliable. It's only the single core atom N270 but manages most basic tasks ok, yeah encoding a movie is painful but browsing is ok as long as you don't have too many ads running on too many tabs. I would have thought this U180 model with dual core should be a lot faster and for £150 it seems a steal. It's used as a main laptop too and when I use a 15in screen laptop they seem too large and cumbersome now. I've even edited my wedding video on mine and it was ok!

Did you advertise it as a fast, reliable machine?
Upgrade to 2gb RAM, and disable swap file. Disable AERO and select best performance options.
This will make it quite fast, but give you memory out messages now and then when you open around 10 windows.

Use Splash Lite player to play FullHD movies on it without any problems.
Check Task Manager while doing that and you will discover the CPU usage is quite low. However, the bottleneck is somewhere else.

If you can install XP on this, then it is really fast.

You did not as it didn't exist then. The N2600 only came out this time last year. It is much improved over the earlier single core versions (N270, N450) also the graphics core is much improved including decoding for HD video.
