The motherboard is just a hub to connect your core components i.e processor, ram and graphics.
Get one that's cheap and decent.
It was an outrageous rip-off at its original price, given it's sorely lacking versus the other high end X370 boards, but for this money it's a good deal.
I caved in, thanks OP. Purchased, now to decide whether to get the 1700x or 1800x...

It's worth keeping in mind that Ryzen+ is due out in Q1 2018, which should bring at the very least some clockspeed improvements (though there have also been rumours of additional cores). I just grabbed a 1600 for £136 when all of the current lineup were reduced a couple of months ago, in anticipation of upgrading to an octa core from the refresh.

I was told about the new chips, I assume they'll be compatible with this board? It might be worth waiting. Even if the new chips are a bit pricey, surely it'll bring the current range down in price? Thanks for the reply.

They'll be compatible, but you will need to update the BIOS. Though that can be done even without a CPU installed on this particular board, since it's a high end model. I imagine there'll certainly be some sales on the current lineup once the new chips arrive. It could be March though, which is a long-ish time to wait I suppose.

Hmmm, I'll have to have a think. Cheers mate.
Nice deal, however like all motherboard manufacturers they seem to have got lazy these days. That is childish RGB lighting instead of focusing on innovation.
Still its a very good deal that for gaming or student computers.
