Great spec for the price. All-black motherboard (so fits any theme of PC you go for), supports SLI of NVIDIA cards (and CrossFire of course), USB 3.1 Gen2 (the 10GB/s one) via the new USB Type-C port. There's also a M.2 port supporting speeds of up to 32GB/s and isolated audio.

£18 cashback from MSI. Says here: dabs.com/lea…ck/

Plenty of good reviews out there.

is this a better deal? MSI Z170A-G43 PLUS £82 same socket and support for crossfire no sli for nvidia though. cclonline.com/pro…25/
These Msi boards are great for a 4.8ghz overclock but keep mine at 4.6 and it's stable with i5 6600k.
Don't know if I was lucky with the silicon lottery also used the Msi gaming m5 mobo. Great board really impressed. Gaming m5 comes with rainbow six siege and possibly still come with Msi head set thrown in from box

According to the MSI website you should get £20 cashback for it, am I correct? or do you only get the game?

what voltage have you set in the bios for your overclock? if you don't mind me asking
I didn't get £20 cash back but redeemed a game code from the Msi website. Had a lot of mobo over the decades but these new Msi boards are fantastic and get a great overclock on the ddr4

1.35 on voltage and stressed test for 24 hours and played games. Like I said 4.8 stable but there is just no need but I should mention mine is on a corsair 110i gtx AIO with no push pull config.
Hope that helps you
Oh and if u didn't know u can overclock a non K version cpu on the Msi gaming m5 and apperently they overclock better than the i5 6600k

yeah i run a 6600k about same on msi gaming pro board which is similar to your board.. adaptive + offset 0.220 with llc on mode 1.. i was a bit confused by how high i had to set the offset to reach 1.345v @4.6. seems fine though, i keep checking with various voltage monitors

anyway as said these msi seem to be real good

Using an 212evo. I'm not sure it was best for price but seems to work well to where the cores hover @65 degrees, using auto fan mode in the bios, when stress testing.

I've been tempted at overclocking the ram which is at 2400, but as i built it for my son, i don't really get the time on it to experiment. But as you say there's no real need where he just mainly plays games, bit of coding and skype

Sorry just want to clarify. So you haven't applied for the cashback or did they rejected it? thanks
212 Evo is a good air cooler and they are priced great.
Ddr4 should go up on the Xmp and u can maunaly set it. Mine is corsair 2666mhz 4x8gb sticks. I got a overclock of 3000mhz. Make sure u have a stable cpu overclock like u have now and then up the ddr4 after.
There are games now where higher ddr4 speeds gives higher fps like in fall out 4. Never needed high speed on ddr 3 with old games but new games are changing that.
Your son is a lucky man as I would have given my left nut for a system like that back in the day better than a spectrum haha

Didn't apply but now u mention it I shall ask tomorrow but I'm sure they will say no now. Don't think there was a £20 cash back offer back then when I bought it

A lot of technical talk in this thread so let me being it down a notch by saying that is a sexy looking mobo!
Whats the difference between this board and this MSI Z170A GAMING M5 Intel Z170 LGA1151 DDR4 PCIe M.2 USB3.1 ATX. Thanks.

I have no idea as stats look the same and have not used this board here but I recommend Msi in general

More gaming features it looks like. Spec wise more USB 3.1 ports and dual M.2 ports to RAID 0.

Thanks for the reminder. I got the M7 and nearly forgot about the cash back. Btw the form on the MSI site isn't available yet.

The cash back form is not available on the site yet. You buy the product first and claim the cash back from MSI after purchase.
