Yep, cheap Shimano, could be worse though, at least they are brand name gears, but you're right, the price is about right for this.

Sad to see Muddy Fox slip to this low though, I am old enough to remember and owned a Muddy Fox bike back in 1990 when they were extremely desirable MTBs and well built.

Nowadays, like Saracen they are a shadow of their former selves being owned by Universal Cycles and just cheap fodder to the catalogues.

its 2009/10 and still making frames out of steel , yak . yak:x

What are you talking about? Steel frames are great.

for £80 you could have a blast on this bike.

is this better than an "apollo" full suspension halfords jobbie?

is it light?

Bought one of these for £99.99 a couple of months ago, fine for the money, not of the same build quality as my Kona, but fine for my son at University.

This bike is a bargain, It's going to be heavy because it's a steal frame but that's no bad thing. It will be vastly superior to any Halfords Apollo full suspension bike though as cheap full suspension bikes are terrible.

Basic entry level full suspension bikes kick off around £1000 so if you're paying less than £1000 for a full suspension you might as well be buying a pogo stick with wheels.

Loved my Muddy Fox Pathfinder in bright yellow c1991. My pride and joy.

I think my ]Boardman Comp FS would have something to say about that at £800.

A 21" mountain bike will be a very large frame, really only suitable for those over 6". Good luck to all those with inside legs of 29" that Argos suggests will be ok for this bike (they won't be, if it really is a 21"). As others have mentioned, this will definitely be a heavy bike - I'd guess around 34-35lbs. On the money at 80 quid I'd say.

Is this available anywhere without delivery >?

looks nice was looking for one for my OTH but I'll have to think twice reading everyone's reviews

I used to have in 1990 one of these bad boys, a Muddy Fox Courier Mega in bright yellow, with the multicoloured paw prints over it, was always worried about theft at the time, they were eye catching and extremely popular for theft amongst the chav generation of the time.

The frame geometry looks bizarre compared to MTB's today, but back then that rear wishbone was awesome.

Mine looked very similar to this, including the wishbone, which really stood out. Sadly it got nicked when I moved to Cambridge in 1994. Sods cut through the lock. They don't make them like this anymore!

£67.99 now.

Not a bad bike I thought, fairly light but brakes and gears are on the budget side.
