The Maplin one is smaller isn't it? Maplin = 3 step, this one 4 step

No, its the same ladder with blue plastic instead of black plastic.
Both are listed as 3 step per section

As for Maplins being low quality - how you comparing it to this one? Given as it's not available to buy yet

be warned that these are very heavy, if the one I bought from lidl/aldi a few years back still reflects this current models specs. hot price though.

Ah okay, i didnt go through the link, so the picture in the OP is wrong then as it's a 4-step.

Certainly looks very similar to the Maplin ladder, with both being 3 step. If anything, the Maplin one may be slightly longer/higher based on the numbers provided on each product page.

I have one of these ladders and really regret not just paying a little more to get a telescopic ladder.

We already had step ladders and we never ever use this one in preference to those. It really is just a big bulky heavy ladder that is a pain to put up and take down.

Even when we were decorating we still didn't use it (in it's decorators table form) cause it's just so big and awkward. Plus the hinges get in the way if you try to use it as a pasting table, it doesn't feel super sturdy to walk around on and it's a bit high for an indoor painting table.

Each to their own but I'd strongly advise a telescopic ladder and separate step ladder.

Despite this ladder being a good deal I found 3 unsold in Lidl Ealing this week. I snapped one up to replace the rubbish one I bought from Maplin and had to return when it broke.

In case anyone is interested the Lidl ladder is much better quality than the Maplin one - even though they look similar. The stabiliser bars are longer and the detachable platform is made of thicker steel and does not slip in use. The Lidl ladder comes with a 3 year warranty - unlike the Maplin miserly 12 months. I had a hard fight to get a refund from Maplin but they caved in when I mentioned health and safety and recommended a product recall.
