If you want to sit on the sofa and use the laptop this post is better because your legs are the foundation for the surface. If you use a table with legs on the sofa not only do you have to position it around the cushion breaks but you get stability issues too because the weight is top heavy.
If you've used MS Surface on your lap then this stuff might make some sense and I'm hoping somebody can verify if these types of 'tray' are suitable for MS Surface as I can't nip over to Jersey to have a look.
