For awareness you get 10% off anyway with buying your tickets with a My Cineworld Account which is free (This is what they refer to as a "standard" account on the details above)

So the only benefit is the £6 Food/Drink offer vouchers that they refer to. Which are likely to be buy a drink/popcorn for a reduced price which is likely still more then if you just get it from a shop and take it with you.

Not wanting to rain on the OP's parade but this offers only true benefit to people taking it up is the free online cancellations. But it would be worthwhile checking the T&C's as there is likely X hrs before showing restriction on cancellations

I think they've cancelled the 10% as part of this on the free accounts.

They were giving you 10% off for being a free account as late as last week, weren't they? Bit cheeky to now start charging for it.

Is this why I couldn't book with my unlimited card online today? Because I haven't upgraded?

It seems that it is mostly just charging for stuff that until recently was free.....

Or already offered rather than free....

Need to add "Per Month" to the title.

Im annoyed because the email I got reads like even though I'm a premium card member I no longer get the discount on 3D etc.

If this ends up been the case I'm cancelling my card immediately.

Do you still have to pay the additional booking charge online with this?

Disgusting move by Cineworld, and this at a time when other chains seem to be offering cheaper tickets etc.

As an unlimited card holder, the email I received is so ambiguous as to what I would actually be paying for a 'Plus' account for. In fact, I still get 3D for free but will no longer receive the 10% off uplifts, this includes IMAX, DBox, 4DX, Superscreen, event cinema(Take That, live theatre etc).

Not sure who came up with this fantastic scheme but probably the same numpty that introduced allocated seating.

And they didn't even give fair warning of the change, they just did it overnight, all discounts have already stopped.

Is it not per year?

This is another type of account which is completely different to Unlimited Card Members. Meaning they are NOT saying you now have to pay another £4.95pa on top of your unlimited membership

If you read the details on the description and the Cineworld website this is an annual payment of £4.95, NOT monthly

You are correct it is an annual payment

That's right, just checked. You used to get the discount by logging in as a free member. Now you need to pay them £4.95 for something that used to be free. Started using Our new Cineworld as they were cheaper withy he discount than our Vue cinema. Might go back to Vue now though.

Allocated seats are a great idea, especially with kids.

Whaaa? Nothing is changing with your unlimited membership. This just affects people that buy individual tickets.

Wrong, you no longer get the discount for IMAX etc, you have to purchase the plus account to get that. Already tried it on a couple of things and the prices have definitely gone up.

As folk have said above, Cineworld are now charging you a fiver to get the same discounts that everyone used to get for free when registering. This is the very definition of a cold deal! And the "£6 food and drink voucher" is going to be money off vouchers after a minimum spend, not exactly £6 in credit. Poor show, Cineworld.

You get 10% off anyway for booking online.

Are you sure? It lists one of the perks as being able to book online using your unlimited card.

I can confirm I tried to book online today with unlimited card and was getting an error message over and over. There was no issue at the cinema though and this new 'offer' was not mentioned......

Really sh*ty move by Cineworld. My Unlimited is up in two weeks time, I will probably get Odeon Limitless instead.
While nothing changed in terms of service they want £4.95 extra for the privilege. I don't give a flying f**k about ticket cancellation - if I can't go after booking with Unlimited card then there is no loss for me anyway.
Just checked my work rewards site - £144 for Odeon Limitless or £142 for Unlimited

Not any more, unless you pay the yearly fee.

The food offer sounds good until you look at the hidden terms - you cannot use the voucher in one go. You can only use it as a £2 voucher when you buy what they call a "2for". I don't know know the cost if a "2for" but it will just add to their profits."Offer includes £2/€2 off full price of ‘2 for’ combo (a regular sized soft dispensed drink with either regular sized popcorn / hot dog or nachos) (‘2 for’ offer) when the relevant ‘2 for’ offer is purchased in any participating Cineworld cinema.
