You must be joking, Morrisons can barely afford their own staff as it is, let alone bring in anyone who was hired AFTER Morrisons sold their M Local stores.

calm down

Morrisons said in a statement: “We are saddened and disappointed to learn that My Local is about to enter administration. We want to help our former colleagues who now work for My Local. We can therefore confirm that if no buyer is found, and stores close, we will welcome our former colleagues back to a job at Morrisons.”
I was informed that only 12 of the my local stores are having the sale this weekend. Morrisons have issued the above statement but have also said that they will welcome back ex colleagues within 6 months!!
Probably make more sense if you change the title from store to stores! I thought you was bragging
Anyone know what 12 stores are having the sale then please?
They are not in administration yet - anyone know if this kind of sale ahead of administration is legal? Do they have the money to pay staff what they owe them?
there's 3 right near me
Just seen this.Hand written sign on the door of the one near me opens at 6 am but it's Saturday
Im certain tobacco products are not allowed to be reduced. That would get them into trouble
I thought it was still morrisons, went to my local store today, hadn't even realised it was a different store.
Morrison's will be needing more staff when they start spreading out the Amazon deliveries.
Has anyone actually been to a store today?

Yes, one of my daughters works there. I doubt there will be anything on the shelves by 10am. Spirits and tobacco not reduced, everything else half price.

So is wine half price? I don't think wine is a spirit but I didn't think it legally could be sold below a certain price

Yes, wine and beer half price. And that is on top of any calls they had on at the time.

I've seen these pre administration sales conducted many a times. the people who lose out the most are usually the creditors.

my sympathy goes out to the staff who end up in limbo for an undetermined length of time.
good find op, heat added
thanks op, been to mine twice this morning, everything except tobacco and spirits 50% off. Its pretty empty of anything decent already this morning. Im sure the chap who scanned mine through put the discount through twice, I got some wine for £1.10 a bottle and kingston cider for 25p, rekordelig for 63p. Cnt argue. As always lots of stuff I dont really need but will come in handy for some summer bbqs. £22 for 6 bags of shopping mainly drink.

They were sold by Morrisons last year, who ever agreed the deal in selling the convenience stupidly agreed to a fee of £20m I believe if the chain goes under.
Ive just got back from the store in Worthing.

Beer is reduced, but only in line with legislation on minimum pricing, so most 12x packs £5.99
Wine is reduced by 50% (or at least the ones I bought were)
There is NO discount whatsoever on spirits. This is also due to legislation to that effect (apparently).

Everything else is reduced, but the shelves are not full of stuff, so it will all be gone quite quickly I think. Looks like the good stuff has been pre-removed.

Staff think final closure is Tuesday.
Which store Britney?
My nearest store is around 25 miles away so trying to work out if it's worth the journey

Agreed. Our local (Blackburn) had a queue apparently at 7am. Spirits and tobacco were included but only 2 a customer and had all gone when I got there about 9:30. Got 24 bottles of wine (15% off too if buying more than 4). Not a huge amount left.
Thank-you, our store wasn't too busy and there was still a lot of stock on the shelves at 9.30am. Bought £42 worth of shopping for £21! Feel sorry for the staff though, we didn't know they were closing.
I went just now to my store in Northenden and there were lots of things left and a bit of a queue. I got 13 bottles of good wine for £35.
Plenty left in my local store. Well, until I got there anyway lol.
My nearest is Birmingham and I'm pretty sure that'll be bare by now with the locals...
Got a couple of stores within 7 miles of me. Gunna head out now and hopefully pick up some bargains. Thanks
I just can't understand how this business has failed. Tesco Express and Sainsbury's Local, even Little Waitrose stores are thriving.

What did Morrisons (and the new owners of My Local) do so wrong? Thought the small supermarket convenience store model worked well. Was it prices, logistics, too much competition, high rents?

Not too much left in my local - but the 50% was excluding tobacco, all alcohol and spirits!
Tobacco and alcohol are about 90% tax and duty so will never be half price.
I literally thought you meant 'My Local Convenience Store'. I was thinking 'where do you live mate?'
