Remember, you only get 6 months warranty instead of the usual 3 to 5 years!

Hot but not needed thanks
It’s been there for weeks at that price.

At that price it’s a risk worth taking for the saving IMO. The data on the disk far exceeds the actual cost so in 2-5years were it to fail, I would be more bothered about that. Most hard disks I’ve seen go wrong have done it early on or give signs of failure (e.g. noisy bearings, SMART faults reported or excessive clicking).

On another note, WD’s site is rubbish. They spent all this time redesigning it with ‘rich graphics’ and were too lazy to put a ‘show in stock’ filter on it...

Am i being dense but where is the buy button? Add to cart, then click the …Am i being dense but where is the buy button? Add to cart, then click the shopping trolley. Then checkout. They charge shipping less then 50 so better off going for a 3TB. Or another model.

Use a program called CrystalDiskInfo to give you an accurate reading on how much the drive is used. Last time I bought a recertified drive it had alot of usage and died within 2 years. I wouldn't use it for anything more than moving data from one device to another, or storing media that doesn't have any sentimental value.
Can this be formatted for windows? Does it work with USB 2?

thanks

It would, yes. Do you also like to live dangerously?
What do you mean? I would only us it as a means of portable transfer to a new machine.

no, you're not, it's just not visible unless it's in stock. terrible website. even worse on mobile, at least desktop version says 'notify me' where the add to cart button appears, mobile view doesn't even indicate it's out of stock.
WD sent me a free express delivery coupon code which came in handy for this.
