What does recertified mean? Reconditioned?

White box, and seemingly as good as new....or at least that's my experience. I've got three of the recertified 2Tb Ultras from there, and they've not missed a beat yet. They're pretty quick on USB3 too.
...and to prove my confidence, I ordered a fourth yesterday!

Does anyone know what the warranty is on these drives. Thanks

Ice cold - pay another £5 or even less and get brand new and 2 years warranty from Toshiba.

£33 now.
Probably wouldn't go for one of these refurbs though, don't skip on memory...

Is that one a passport ultra?

Got a Seagate recertified one about 2 years ago, working as good as new to this day

And you'd be ice mad to go with Toshiba. Have one of the higher failure rates in the industry, alongside Seagate.

that's a billy bargain!

Now even cheaper at £32.99.

I've gone for the 2TB though at £50.

Have 3 already but never had recertified. If all goes well with this one I'll be buying from there again!!

How about storage?

Nice, they seem to have reduced most of the recertified range recently.

For those of you interested, if you're spending over £100 then you can use the code WDSTORECPN for £10 off.

You can probably store a lot of memory in one of these!

Thanks

Also up to 20% off at WD Store for students, educators & staff... Might not work on the recertified stuff but worth a try.

In 20 years pc building the only drives I have ever had fail are toshiba and seagate. Most reliable for me (personally) have always been WD or Maxtor

They use WD Greens inside them, so not fast at all, but quiet and suitable for storage purposes.

Yes. I use a 2TB one on my Xbox One. It's perfect.

Thx guys.

Does anyone know if the drive can be removed from this and if it is Sata? Thanks

This review says not... "The disk inside the case forgoes the usual additional USB-to-SATA convertor. Instead is a WD custom-made 2.5in drive made for such portable enclosures, with a direct USB 3.0 connection built into the disk electronics."

Top hard drive this one, I bought a brand new one with a 3 year warranty for £50, insanely fast, sleek, thin and lightweight, brilliant software and data protection with passwords, highly recommend.

Thnx... ordered

Would these fit in a PS4?

Thanks rebellion that answers my question.

Though this doesn't usually apply to the recertified drives.

Yes, but it's not a portable drive like the original post.

Sorry to be a bit thick, but will this work with an iMac straight out of the box, or does it have to be formatted?

No. You cannot take them out of the caddy.

How do I get the extra 20% off as I have signed into my student account and still shows same price?

I run the blue 1tb recertified drive on my Xbox one and its fantastic! Loads installed on it and 'touch wood' still running great after 6 months

Wants vs needs right now X)

Yeh sorry as mentioned before, that offer might not be applicable to these recertified drives.

Have 2 of the 1.5tb drives sitting on the back of my iMac, used for time machine back ups
Great price at £39 delivered

Aww...thought it was a black drive not a green drive in a black case

Still great value
