I would agree that most, if not all alarms have a deterrent value. Good deal, voted hot
Why are they a waste of time? I have the model that rings upto 3 numbers should the alarm be triggered, why is that any different than paying a monitoring fee (£25 pm?) only for them to ring you to tell you your alarm has been activated!!!! Im sorry, but i totally disagree with anyone that says a DIY alarm kit is a waste of money. Its a deterrent...and if a deterrent works, then its got to be worth £150 'ish.
One of them is a dummy box.
is the whole point of an alarm to scare off the burglar? if it alerts you what are you going to do confront the burglar, not wish - one of you could end up in hospital/jail
Does the price include monitoring? If not, ADT maybe cheaper. Agree and diy alarms are a waste of money if people are thinking it will protect their propety, but its better than nothing. Monitored alarms arent as expensive as you may think it you can stomach the monthly fees. ADT are from £99 installed (nb. for £99 you get more kit than this Yale alarm). Downside is you pay £15-25 /month for moniting but at least you are better protected.
£1 cheaper on Amaxon for £14.98.... http://www.amazon.co.uk/AEG-Powerbox-100-Accessory-set/dp/B004VELSA2 through a 3rd party seller
