Myguide MG3218WE sat nav £30 instore in ASDA. Was one left in the glass Cabinet near Cig counter in Brynmawr (South Wales).

372mhz processor, 64mb RAM.
2gb SD card with western europe maps (2gb limit).
Sirfstar III GPS technology.
320x240 pixel 3.5" antiglare screen (doesn't go as bright as I'd like).
Internal lithium-polymer battery (claimed up to 3 hours operation).
Cig lighter charger and windscreen mount included.

Hit the model number in on the internet and found Ebuyer reviews which suggest it can be hacked to stick tomtom, igo8 or whatever on. The turbodog 5 stuff on it is a load of junk so going to try fiddling with it. Bought this to replace my usual HP Ipaq 2210 + bluetooth GPS combo with Tomtom installed on it. First impressions are that the screen isn't brilliant and the speaker isn't as loud as I'd hoped from a dedicated sat nav unit, but still a little louder than the Ipaq.

Myguide is actually a decent little Sat Nav but I'd certainly bin the turbodog. Mine is currently running IGO 8.3 with TTS (says the road names instead of turn next left etc) and it is actually quicker and easier than the TT's I occasionally use.

Will pop into ASDA for that price

Could anyone kindly point me in the direction of an idiot's guide of how to use IGO on a Myguide satnav?

Many thanks

Nice find, ive been after a sat nav for a while, one that you can put the other software on

Just got igo 8.3 on it and this makes it quite a good unit for £30. You can basically stick the Igo 8 files on the memory card and change the path in the sd card file shell.ini to point to the igo 8 executable.

stock updates anyone?? bristol?

nothing in Asda chesser Edinburgh. :-(

nice find....

bet there's none left

this satnav with iGO8 in one nifty bit of kit, it also plays Divx/Xvid you know and comes with 2gb sandisk sd card :whistling:

I found that iGo would lose the GPS settings (com port and baud rate) every time you switched on the unit. TomTom software on the same unit and memory card didn't. Anyone else have this problem?

ive been looking for a sat nav so thanks!

Just picked up the last one in Wigan. Was still marked at £50 but scanned at £30 much to the sales assistant's disgust! :whistling:

Do you have that in english?

Seriously, wouldn't the average user be better off with the TomTom on here at £50 - works straight out of the box. I know some people get a kick out of reprogamming these things but for the other 99% of the population it's just a tool to do a job and pretty poor if it doesn't do it as purchased.

Looks pretty good this. Does anyone know if these have headphone sockets on them.

Cheers!

No headphone socket. Only sockets are a mini usb for power/data and an sd card slot.

Not noticed a tomtom at £50, think there's one at Asda for £80?! It's no more complicated to install tomtom or igo8 on this than it is to update the maps and software on a tomtom. Just google for details. I would buy a tomtom if I had more spare cash to splash.

Thanks mate! Picked up last one in asda Cardiff leckwith store!
I hope I can trust the reviews on ere because I haven't got a clue about sat navs

I just seen the price and read something about it being easy to install tom tom that's when I was on my way to asda.

Heat added

Is it really easy to install tomtom ??

Just pciked up the MG42WE model (larger 4" screen) for £50 which was marked up at £75!

Much heat as I've been looking for a European SatNav for ages and did not want to use Ebuyer.

HEAT

No stock in Dunstable or Stopsley (Luton). I hate in-store deals :-(
Heat and rep added though as this is a hot one.

Just picked up last one at Clayton le woods. Thanks for heads up

Might have to try my local tomorrow and treat myself

Usually in the Glass cabinets either in the entertainment/mobile phone section, or by customer services/cig counter dependent on store.

Spotted loads of display boxes for these in Asda Living Newport but were priced up at £50. Said maximum 2 per customer. Aleady have one now so didn't bother to ask if they were £30 or if in fact they had any stock.

I'm pretty sure there are no TomToms for £50. Reprogramming? It's the same as updating a map on a regular TomTom. There is no "reprogramming" involved and it is not complicated.

Thanks for the info but have checked today; I have asked and they have non in stock at the moment. When does this offer expire?.

Asda Cardiff Bay had 14 in Stock after my purchase Today! and still £30

southampton has stock but you have to ask for the "£30" one! otherwise they only have the £50 model!

she had to go and get one from the stockroom.

Purchased ours from gateshead store , still had a few left., Fantastic for the money . It was located in the media aisle..next to the dvd's cd's etc .

Went to Asda Sutton and got a Myguide 3218 and Binatone x350, for £20 each. Got home and loaded iGo8 onto them.

What a bargin!!
