Thanks
Thanks - fingers crossed!
That is spooky. I just did this before coming to this site as I found the link on the NS&I website and know I have some premium bonds floating around from when I was a child. I've just bought some more (and got a £25 'win' in the first draw) so thought I might as well track them down. I also did a building society account I set up years ago but lost all the documentation to.
Thanks - Very useful!

As in suitable for the tight fisted? I cant see how this relates to Jewish food.
Good one, I used it a while back and got £201p from an old post office account my gran set up for me way way back.

Glad to help
I used this a couple of years back and tracked down an old student account. Turns out there was £1.46 in there. Better mine than lost.
how long does it normally take?

Depends how much info you can give them I suppose. The more info they have the quicker it will be. They sent a cheque in the post once they'd sorted mine
Just a warning - I tried this 'type' of site (but not this one) before and put the details in of my late grandfather whom I know had £40,000 in a account with a certain building society and a smaller but still sizeable amount in a bank and I was told that they had no records of him holding an account in either so I would not now have any faith whatsoever in this type of service in general although I have no experience of this particular one. It maybe worth a try but I would still contact companies directly with records of all correspondence ...

It was recommendatory by Martin Lewis
Can they use this information to chase up perhaps money you may owe a bank with an old account you kind of forgot to inform you may have moved etc? Hypothetically speaking *Whistles innocently*
Re: Monstersnowman's comment. Its a fair warning - the system isn''t perfect and if you know that there is a good probability that they were a customer, you wouldn't stop at that point just because they say that they can't find it surely?! I suspect building society records in particular if you go back pre-80s are probably the most liable to be difficult to find given mergers and their less-automated record-keeping (e.g. a few of them STILL HAND-WRITE passbook entries!!)

For finding long forgotten accounts that otherwise would never have been reclaimed, I think the service works about as well as you can expect for free.

I'm not expecting anything, however I do know that there was a post office account left when I was 7 and had about 1.70 in it (that was over 30 years ago now) Premium Bonds however...This could be interesting I certainly had these bought for me when I was a kid and do not have them now. Fingers crossed.

I think the board should put up a prize to the person who finds the most "lost" money :-)
I also used this website, but only found £3, which had accumulated over the years from leaving 25p in HAlifax!
worth a try cecil!
i will have a go. thanks

worth a try, thank you x
Have submitted, will see how I get on. Thanks
will have to have a look
I can sort of remember having a savings card when I was a kid that my mum would always add money to at the post office, I can also remember visiting one of our local banks to add savings when I was younger. I remember the bank but it's not one I or my parents are with now (or then thinking back) which makes me think this would only have been a savings account.

I've filled in my details but not really expecting to get anything from it, will have to tell my parents about it as well so they can have a go.

Thanks for posting

Ditto. I'll post if I hear anything.
Does anyone else get an error about the site's SSL certificate? If so, I really wouldn't use it - it may be unsafe.
Bit suspicious! Lot of heat but not many comments and with he SSL certificate issue going to give this a miss!
i did this last night and still haven't had a response - how long did you wait for a reply?
anyone been successful in finding a lost fortune?
I have moved abroad for the past 3years now and I had left 100 pounds on my account. Once they found me in their records, will send me a check or wire the money on my new account abroad?
