The 64Gb version on their website has the following r/w speeds.

Write Speed: 10MB/s
Read Speed: 80MB/s

I'm guessing as it's the same brand/colour that it will likely be the same for the 128Gb.

what else would it do but read and write?

A good tenner less than going rate for other 128GB USB 3.0 memory sticks. Same stick is showing at £35.99 on the MyMemory website so i guess they are selling them off using ebay. Potential Read/Write speeds seem a bit meh but no arguing with the bargain price. May nab one myself. HOT

Functions as a storage device, not a hard drive. Unless you can boot Windows from it (which you can't)

Would this be good as extra storage for the likes of an Xbox One or Wii u?

It will work, but at 10MB/s it will be insanely slow.

Yes you can, although few would really want to.

anyone know the time it would time to fill this drive using usb3 , roughly.. ta

HOT! Amazing price for a 128GB memory stick. Had a 8GB memory stick with MyMemory branding few years ago, did the job, no fault.

At maximum write speed, which you would never maintain all of the time, I estimate 3 hours, 38 minutes and 27 seconds.

Of course, formatted capacity will not be the full 128Gb but it gives you a general idea.

Yes it will take 3.5hrs to write to the whole drive. Its not often you'll be transferring that amount of data though. Its still only 1.5minutes to write a 1GB file. Still a shame its nowhere near USB 3.0 maximum speeds. Voted hot for the capacity and price

Will this work on my Samsung smart tv so I can record to it?

+1

I'd say it would, all of my usb sticks work with mine.

Blimey, sounds a great deal!

As op says you can run Linux off it. I triedtje new mint xfce version straight off a usb2 flash and it was fast. This should be even faster.

Looks like it is a rebranded "Integral".

I thought Wii U had a max of 32GB for USB flash drives?

Any recommendation for expanding memory on the Wii U? I'm guessing a cheap usb 2 self-powered HDD would be fine, ie 1TB/500gb

No, I don't think there is any limit on the Wii U, I have a PNY 64GB USB 3.0 pen drive and it works fine with that. Thing is I am actually filling it quickly (I am trying to keep most of my games digital this generation as I like the convenience) and only have about 9 or 10GB left on it. Thinking about upgrading to one of these but I'm a bit concerned it might not be fast enough for smoothly running Wii U games from? Not too bothered how long the initial installs and downloads take but has to be fast enough to run any Wii U game.

I could back up my entire 120GB SSD C drive on this, cracking price for 128gb

You will need to power it either via mains or a 2 to 1 USB cable. I've used and old 160gb drive this way and its works just fine.

I wondered that and thought that it could be the equivalent of the Noir, where the 64Gb has a write speed of up to 10MB/s but the 128Gb is shown as up to 35 MB/s.

Windows will not install onto these devices, it will not detect it as a valid drive during the installation process.

Yes it can because I've done it.

Google it and you will find a few guides.

The only restriction is that it will only run from the machine that you created it on.

With your qualifications, you should know.

I'll rely on my 30 years of IT experience and practical application of such.

You can for sure, even with XP, 7 and above are peice of cake. If pagefile is concern, google for diskmod and can be made nearly 100% universal.
These things you won't learn on qualification courses

I thought the same, bearing in mind what I would normally have expected in terms of the difference between the two.

I found one thing interesting and that it seems that USB 3 implementation of different machines can make a hell of a difference.

In my original test on my latest machine I got Read speed: 26.75 MB/s and Write speed: 22.04 MB/s

On an older machine that I had added a cheap as chips USB 3 card, the same test showed Read speed: 81.65 MB/s and Write speed: 55.35 MB/s, which was pretty much mirrored in some real world tests that I performed.

HOT, just what i need for uni! Thanks!
